What a mess. Did the guy in the car pull out on to the road and crash right into the truck?

She was traveling South on Rt. 22 and drifted over the center line and struck the truck which was headed North on Rt. 22, I had the luck of being Command.

Here's a question: was that dude in the last photo using a torch??? Isn't the ground covered in diesel fuel?? There doesn't appear to be a charged line in the image, so I'm assuming that it was there but out of the shot???

It was definetly a mess. I was the first rescue squad member to arrive on the scene. I was very suprised that the patient in the car had no injuries. She was very lucky. Very nice pictures Mark.

It's diesel fuel. You could drop a torch in it and it wouldnt light up. Diesel has to be compressed to be flammable.

Picture #3 shows the Engine on the scene, handline was there, just out of the picture.

Also a side note, this is the third MVA on this stretch of road in the last 10 days.

Negative sir. Diesel is perfectly flammable out in the open. While it has a much higher flash point than gasoline it is perfectly flammable out in the open. At the same time, the higher flash point makes the operation of the torch in that situation not particularly dangerous.
