10 posts in this topic

Time: 1600hrs

Location: Larchmont Harbor X Long Island Sound

Units Operating: USCG

Weather Conditions: Wonderful

Description Of Incident: USCG has established a security zone around a dolphin just outside Larchmont Harbor.

Is the security zone because the individual is a nonenglish speaking alien who is trying to gain entry into Larchmont or is it more sinister than that?

I think it might be more along the lines of a more intelligent mammal then what already resides in the area. The USCG is trying to keep it there and hope the intelligence might rub off on the residents. After seeing people run generators inside their garages, walking on downed power lines, complaining that they don't have internet access during the storm you have to wonder what about how smart the people in the area are.

And unfortunately it seems that in our profession, we are merely staving off that inevitability by informing such people of their wrongdoings, or for patching them up and allowing them to go right back out and continue what it was they were doing...

Kind of ironic, is it not, that our profession, we try to alter/reverse the Darwinistic theory/people?

The dolphin died. Nothing funny about it. Now there's a whole school without a porpoise.
