AUSTIN (KXAN) - Eight 911 call centers in the Central Texas area could be closing later this year.

Most of these centers take between two and 15 calls per day.

County wide 911 call centers work most other places. I don't see why it wouldn't work in these communities.

Hopefully this vote will one day make its way to Westchester. County PSAP and centralized dispatch is the way to go, and it works with multiple departments daily operations.

More than just the 911 center needs to be shut down. How about the entire "town" or at least the entire PD

Onondaga County, NY

1 PSAP for the entire county including the City of Syracuse. It can work in NY. Oh yeah they are interoperable and pretty coordinated.

Those are staggering figures. I knew that Westchester played ball in an entirely different fashion, but wow...

We have 2 PSAP's here in Dutchess, the County, and City of Poughkeepsie. All cell calls come into the County, and if for the City, calls get transferred there, but all landlines in the City go straight to their center.
