MAHOPAC — As he climbed a ladder in the middle of the night in the pouring rain to help an elderly couple out of their burning home, fire Lt. William J. Bahr said he never gave a second thought to what he should do.

Way to go Billy and chief Lena. On a side note besides this award at the hvvfa convention they also got recognition from fasny and the putnam county fireman's association.

I have had great pleasure in knowing both Chief Lena for over 10 years and Capt. Bahr since middle school. I am in no way shape or form surprised with how modest they are, with that said these two guys are top notch firemen as well as the rest of the station 2 crew that was first due that day. Congrats brothers
