Ossining Fire Department Loses A Longtime Member

For those who aren't yet aware, the Ossining Fire Dept lost one of their own.

Born 12/30/61 in Ossining, Joseph Lorenz was a valued 31 year member/officer of Ossining Fire Department Ladder 42; a 32 year skilled carpenter/supervisor of Carpenters Local 11; a 45 year member/officer of Edelweiss Westchester, a long time dedicated Scoutmaster for his beloved BSA Troop 49 Ossining and Advisor for Venturing Crew 2470. Survived by his loving wife Ingrid (Handler), adoring daughter Christine and devoted son Eric; Mother in law Maria Handler; Aunt Maria Loy; brothers Michael (Ann), Stefan (Frieda), Matthias (Phyllis), Robert (Diane), nieces, nephews and many loyal friends. A real “people person,” Joseph was truly loved by all.

Visitation at Beecher Funeral Home, Pleasantville, NY Tuesday 7-9, Wednesday 2-5, 7-10. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Thursday at St. Augustine RC Church, Ossining. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joseph Lorenz BSA Troop 49 Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o John Cestone, 46 Emerson Ave, Croton, NY 10520 appreciated.

After the burial, in honor of Joseph, we will return to an Open House Luncheon Reception at Joseph's Ossining Northside Firehouse. ALL ARE WELCOME.

Joe was in my high school class. He was a super friendly guy. RIP Joe.

Sounds like he lived a full life and was a tremendous value to the Ossining community. RIP.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. He sounded like he was a man you wish you got to know and wanted to be part of the community. My condolences to his family, fellow members of Washington H & L, OFD and his friends.

RIP Uncle Joe!!! Great Ossining FF and great father. He will never be forgotten!!!
