MTA payroll tax ruled unconstitutional

GOSHEN – A State Supreme Court justice in Nassau County Wednesday ruled the MTA payroll tax unconstitutional. The tax has been levied on all employees in Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties as well as the five boroughs of the City of New York.

Good. Maybe next they can reverse the stupid surcharge that doubles our vehicle registrations as well.

God forbid the region have a functioning mass transit system.

Tell you what, when a tax is levied on everyone, regardless of their use of a car or purchase of gasoline, for road maintenance; then I will gladly pay a tax for "mass transit."

How about charge the people who use mass transit the actual cost of a fair. Instead every car owner in the nyc region is subsidizing the mta.
