Full police honors for 'extraordinary' 10-year-old who moved a village

4 posts in this topic

In the New Jersey village of Ridgewood, Michael Feeney was a celebrity. He swapped campaign advice with the mayor. For a short time, he served as police chief. This Friday, he was to light the big Christmas tree downtown.

He was 10 years old.

Michael Feeney died last week after a four-year struggle with a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. On Tuesday, the village honored him with a funeral with full police honors.

What an incredable story. It sounds like the entire town, especially the police department and mayor gave this boy a wonderful life. Condolences to his family and friends. 10 years old is far to young to be lost. A salute to the PD for the beautiful display for this young man.

While it breaks my heart to see a young life taken like this I am glad to see there were people with big hearts that made his short life full of excitement. May God rest the soul of this young warrior who fought a tough fight and comfort those left behind. Hug your kids!
