NBC's Olympic Coverage Comes From Stamford

5 posts in this topic

I never knew that NBC's Winter Olympic coverage is produced in Stamford via feeds from Sochi and in house anchor spots. Seems like a pretty massive facility, and employs 600 people.

Stamford seems to have quite a few TV productions in town, and growing. WWE also has their corporate headquarters and a separate TV production facility in Stamford that produce TV shows worldwide, the YES Network is produced in Stamford, and further away in Bristol, is ESPN's headquarters.

Hopefully, even with tax credits, we'll continue to see KME's being delivered to Stamford.

Stamford records all incoming feeds, packages them for air, feeds them to NBC in Manhattan who in turn feeds them out to the network.

You've left out the 3 that are Stamford's real claim to fame and most informative and important shows on TV ...The Maury show, The Steve Wilkos show and The Jerry Springer show!!!

The Olympics have run out of Stamford for years, for quite a while the NBC Sports control room was in a nondescript office at Landmark Square. It faced out onto Atlantic St above what is now Station Eats restaurant. As a matter of fact during the last Summer Olympics, the restaurant had to curtail their live outdoor music because it was interfering with the work being done above them. Now with the move to the old Clairol site, they have expanded their operations to cover other aspects of NBC sports.

Oh Clairol, about 800,000 Square Feet of fun. Worked there for about 6 years, Days, eves, and mids. In addition to NBC Studios they have Chelsea Piers and a charter school on the property. Keep meaning to go back, apparently it is very different, but conducive to what they are doing.
