Firefighter - Application now available

The Town of Westport will be accepting applications for testing for the position of Firefighter beginning April 18, 2014. At that time, applications will be available from the Town of Westport Personnel Department at 110 Myrtle Ave, Room 208, Westport, CT 06880.

Applications and Resumes can be submitted by email to personnel@westportct.gov or be sent it to Personnel Department, Attn: Debra Ferrante, Westport Town Hall;110 Myrtle Ave; Westport, CT 06880.

The application process will close on May 20, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a non-smoker, and have a valid driver’s license. Candidate will also need valid EMT and CPAT certifications at the time of appointment. Candidates will also be required to take a written, oral and swimming test.

Noticed there's no mentioning of veteran's credit for this exam. Is that common ?

Westport currently has a population of 26,400 residents living in 33.3 square miles. The population density is 790 per square mile and there are 9,600 households in town.

The Westport FD currently runs approximately 4,000 emergency calls annually and operates 4 Fire Stations, 4 Engines, 1 Truck, and 1 Rescue(cross-staffed). There are 15 members on per shift and each member works a 24-hour shift (1/2/1/4).

Engine 2, Truck 1, Rescue 3, Car 3(Asst. Chief, Shift Commander) - 515 Post Rd. E., Post Rd./Downtown (Headquarters for WFD and house Fairfield County Haz-Mat. Command Vehicles)

Engine 4 - 555 Riverside Ave., Saugatuck

Engine 5 - 66 Center St., Greens Farms

Engine 6 - 61 Easton Rd., Coleytown

Engine's 2 and 4 are each staffed by 1 Lt. and 2 Firefighters per shift.

Engine's 5 and 6 are each staffed by 2 Firefighters per shift.

Truck 1 is staffed by 1 Lt. and 2 Firefighters per shift, who also cross-man Rescue 3.

Car 3(Shift Commander) is staffed by an Assistant Chief and a Firefighter(Driver/Aide) per shift.

No idea on how it was scored but I do know a 92.81 was good enough for a interview
