Cheapest gas?

18 posts in this topic

Hey since I'm probably not the only one who drives a gas-guzzling pickup truck (or SUV, etc...) I thought we should all share where we can find cheap gas around the Westchester area.

I've been going to the Shell on Rte 22 (North Broadway) in North White Plains.

This is y when I need gas I go into Jersey (Park Ridge) although today I paid $2.38 in NJ - for Shell so not much of a difference but its something, especially if you near by.

Jeremy you can go down the road in Park Ridge a bit to the other 4 gas stations and they are cheaper by about 8 to 10 cents a gallon. I personally pay more for the Mobil.

My question is....is cheap gas really that, cheap gas????

I mean, is Mobil or Texaco a better product then say Brand X? Does cheap gas leave deposits, or contribute to poor performance?? Is there anything that makes the name brands better??

I've been told they all come from the same place, just some add additives which supposedly help with engine performance. Yet they only typically add them to the higher octane fuels. So you put in the higher octane and when you feel the engine it seems to have more pep. Well, of course it does. It's firing a LOT hotter than it would with lower octane. In the long run this will actually HURT your engine. Stick to the low octane (87) and if you want additives, throw in some aftermarket crap you can get from your local auto parts store.

I was told the name brands buy the top 90% or so of a tanker and the others buy the rest.
