The 4th Alarm on July 4th was not in this building. That one was @ Jerome and the Cross Bronx Expresssway. This taxpayer had 2-3 alarm fires the first week of August. The first one was a good stop with handlines. The 2ndfire - lines and towers. The last one forgetaboutit.

All in all, it basically comes down to one thing...someone wanted that building gone. I'm glad no one was seriously injured.

JBE,

can we get a rundown on all the units and relocaters when you get some time?

I'll take a look tomorrow night when I go back into work.

I can tell you E-92 and TL-44 were first due. And that when the request was made for an additional Second Alarm to be transmitted for Exposure 3(The H-type MD) the Supervising Dispatcher got on the radio and told the IC that they would get 2 additional alarms transmitted, equalling a 6th for the incident, with an additional truck as a FAST Truck, a couple of Battalions and one Deputy Chief to cover the Exposure 3 building and the units would be directed into Exposure 3 upon transmission of the 6th.

JBE,

It seems like there were alot of Battalion Chiefs on scene. I would guess some came from Queens and Manhattan.

In order to keep coverage elsewhere, does FDNY recall or make boxes DRB until there is a confirmed job?

There aren't too many DR Boxes left. Because there aren't too many pull boxes left. Something majorly catastrophic has to happen for a recall signal to be announced. Prior to September 11th, I don't remember the last time a recall signal was announced.

As for modifying responses, we do that all the time. If a manhole blows, we'll get a glut of automatic alarms in the general vicinity. We'll modify them to maybe 1 engine, or 1 truck, and just let it go. Simply to conserve companies. Same goes with weather related stuff, prioritize responses. If we are swamped with heavy fire/emergency traffic, we go into a condition known as Fallback, where we seriously modify responses to everything.
