I think Charger is #1 followed not too far behind Interceptor in my book, if I had to pick. Never Chevy.

Took my CDL road test in an 1988 Autocar. Beast of a truck!
Courtesy of the Oshkosh website, this is what we're using at HPN for heavy snow removal. It's amazing how far the technology has come along, and this thing is a beast! And, yes, it's all wheel steering.
Best part of the job working at HPN Ops was snow removal.

Lucky and happy all OK. Guess they get a new engine out of it.

Bronxville PD only has these in their fleet.

We did not have the Foam Unit then (pic is from around 1995). All the foam cans used off the rigs, then FDNY was called in for foam. Our Master Stream Foam equipment was purchased after this incident, and used about a week later on the gasoline tanker crash/fire on CPA by Thruway.
Was that the crash on CPA under the Thruway near the old Ground Round? Remember that one.

Yonkers FD has its Foam Unit housed at Station 13 and is run as part of YFD's Special Operations Department, supported by the crew of Engine 313 and Ladder 73. YFD has used this apparatus on a few occasions over the years.
Mount Vernon FD's Foam Unit, I believe, hasn't existed in years. When it was "last in service" FDMV was running it, using a converted 1967 Mack C Rig (Former Engine 6), until FDMV disbanded its Foam Unit. There was 1 attempt of reviving the FDMV Foam Rig, when they obtained the Old Westchester County Airport Fire Rig (See Photo), but sadly, that rig sat in the back of Station 2, rusting, for a number of years (I don't think it is still back there), rather than fixing it back up and having it as their Foam Unit (You would think, with all of the businesses down in the Old "Oil City" area of Mount Vernon, there would be a need for such a rig.
Surprised that White Plains FD gave their Foam Unit back to the County DES. (Maybe someone in the know can clarify why White Plains FD gave it back to the County?)
I used to drive that ARFF Truck.

Hearing officer hired by the fire district, LOL, yeah, that is a non-biased opinion!

OK so now what happens to a Chief when departments merge? Had he remained a sergeant then he would have laterally become a county sergeant. Does a local chief get some sort of county deputy chief position? It seems that operationally they would not need nearly so many chief officers. Although it seems unfair that if the county HR wanted the position filled to make it essentially temporary should the merger go through.
It could be as simple as giving him a pay and rank bump before he leaves. Not sure what they did when VOPD merged. Maybe they leave, fully knowing they will be out of a job, and if so, trust me, they are not walking away empty handed.
-
Excellent. Thanks!
And they will get better cars, based on what I have been told about MK's current vehicles.
-
yes sir.
Not what the article says. The merger is still a possibility. There are other reasons that this could have been done that does not have anything to do with if they merge or not.

As for the level of service, I am referring to manpower, not equipment, special services, etc....
The Town can so whatever it thinks is best for the Town, but, somebodies math is incorrect. If that's how they want to sell it,well, so be it. None of this affects me either way, FYI.....
-
Is it the position of WCPD that they will no longer provide the resources that are available to all municipalities in the County? Such as K9, Aviation, CST, SWAT, manpower during large scale events, etc., etc.?
Not sure what the position is, I doubt the above, but, you can not cover a Town 24/7 hiring 5 guys. They said they will cover the uncovered by paying overtime. Sure, they save over 4 years, but that savings will be gone after all the overtime.
-
Why not the same level of service? I bet it will be better VOPD is probably better versed in handling the patrolling of the town. They can handle whatever comes as they have shown in the past. If special services are need the county pd can be called on as the town residents continue to pay county taxes. In my opinion they get the best of both worlds.
Simple. Hire 5 guys to patrol 24/7??? If VOPD has that many guys to spare TOPD then they are overstaffed. They will be taking away manpower from VOPD, sure the residents would love that. Come on here, this is simple math. it takes more guys to cover a Town 24/7 than 5, without taking resources from another, and/or adding overtime.

I don't think this is accurate as I have seen the new interceptors in blue. Same goes for the Chargers. IN addition what is the likelihood that 3 manufacturers no longer offer dark metallic blue all at the same time?

It is accurate. Maybe they had some left over vehicles around or paint, but that paint is no longer made. The paint is made by 1 company, not by each car manufacturer. I know, trust me.

So, according to the VOPD website, they are 57 sworn members. I can't tell how up to date that is. Assuming you have a chief and a captain or two, you have over 50 officers available for the overtime pool. If there are 35 overtime shifts a week to fill (2 day, 2 evening, 1 midnight), it would mean each officer would have to pull an OT shift every 10 days or so?
Thereby eating up the savings of the contract difference, so there will be no savings. VOPD said they will only hire 5 officers. Sorry, in the end, there will be no savings, and they will not get the same level of service.

The dark blue paint is no longer made so they have gone to black.

They are not franchises; they are run by a corporation. There is are Regional Managers, Area Managers, and General Managers.
According to Lohud, the ones that closed were owned by a particular franchise. They are the only ones affected. J&B Restaurant Partners was the franchise for Rockland and Westchester Friendly's and have shut down all of the locations they own.
-
Ones in Orange County open, maybe a franchise location went under.

There have been issues with those SUV's. It was referenced in an article about the State Trooper who died a few months back upstate. SUV's are great, but, honestly, they can get squirrely at with the center of gravity so high. I know the NYSP revised their training a few years back when they increased the use of SUV's and I know they are lower to the ground then the average comparable model but they are still SUV's. I am not saying any of this had to do with this accident, but attention has been given to SUV's by the NYSP.

Not a chance. The military can not even shot down any aircraft without an express verbal authority and approval from the President. While the military has been given some leeway in making this decision without approval, I can tell you there is not a chance in hell that the NYPD has any authority. Think of this, where would that aircraft, or its parts, land if it was shot down over NYC??? Sorry, the ramifications would be like ones we have never seen before. Leave the job where it falls at, the military, not the NYPD.
