  3. Abuse of the mutual aid program will certainly be an issue,i know of one city in Westchester where other depts are not even on the list to go in. There may be some other issues that keep them out of the city but overall if a dept doesn't operate with enough manpower/rigs it will slap them in the face! Keep the faith NEWBURGH FIREFIGHTERS!
  4. I was asked today how is it that the information is out about the civil service exam given recently for the entry level for firefighter is out and the information is being distributed by the vulcan society. I can't speak on behalf of the society however I can advise you all if you have a question on why the vulcans know about the results before you do is to call MV civil service at 914-665-2357. They are the people to talk to, if you feel that some wrongdoings are going on i would not hold back and call NYS civil service and tell them your situation, 518-473-5022 jjc

  9. After much thought and some talk i have decided to write a book about the situation that I happen to be in. many of you know that discrimination has been a hot topic recently and i feel that its time for a book to be out there to send the info to all out there. Discrimination is a 2 way street and i am not the only one to be denied something because of race. Changing of standards effects all, I will tell all about my situation when it comes to the corrupt ways in MV city hall not only with me but with others in the past.It will be a tell all book and I won't hold back! "Fightin City Hall" might take some time but its in the works!
  10. most certainly!
  11. After a double LODD death with the Washington DC FD a few years ago one of the points made I believe in the NIOSH report was to put the Chief's aides back on the roster. If I remember correctly it was stated that the aides are the eyes and ears of the Chiefs which often leaves the Chief to concentrate 100% on the operations on the fireground. From working in this postion i have been in positions where I am under the direction of the working Deputy Chief who depends on me to carry out certain tasks to allow him to focus on the incident. A Chiefs aide IMO should be a firefighter with experience (knowledge of the job/dept operating procedures)and who can be trusted to carry out orders or tasks for the Deputy Chief. Just putting a guy in the car to be nothin but a driver does nothin but take away a working member on the fireground. Not that i will see it in my career but many depts have on board computors, multiple radio frequencys etc that need to be watched during the incident. The working force also needs to realize that any assignments issued to the working crews come directly from the Deputy Chief. Accountability is another big issue for the aide to be concerned with.I am sure more can be added to this.
  12. No thanks George-we have the best of the best leading us now!
  13. The real shame of it all is that this would have been the most diverse class ever in the academy! Amazing.
  14. At a recent meeting for Merit Matters 2 candidates from list #6019 FDNY were present and they are looking for others who may be on the list and who WILL be denied the chance to become a FDNY firefighter because of the Judge's decision to go with the illegal Quota system for the hiring of firefighters. If you or anyone you know are presently on the list let them know about MERIT MATTERS. List #6019 members are organizing to fight the fight! Support them as well as MERIT MATTERS by going to the site and sign the petition.

  21. Good points Chief Hac- fire service leaders need to be on top of what might happen here, the fire training Center took years to build, from dispatching to training what if any cuts may effect the FTC? The staff too include the guys who maintain the place. I read the proposal and I hope that the Fire Service does not come up short on this. I'm not really positive that the FD will benefit. If positions are lost at the FTC then we are dealing with situations not much different than some local Fire Depts that have recently demoted, laid off etc! We will see.
  22. For more info about this go to merit matters.com and read all the facts that are presented that shows that the city of NY has certainly done its job to increase the rolls of minorities on the job.The FD jobs should not be given out like candy anywhere, If standards aren't lowered for lawyers, pilots, doctors etc why should the FD be the career that both judges and liberal lawyers are going after? More to follow.
  23. Hats off to Firefighters Pat Gallagher and John "Chirch" chirichella on the early morning grab utilizing a ground ladder to rescue a woman with heavy fire and smoke conditions. I was told that the woman could not even be seen in the window.
  24. To those of you out there who either had a chance to be hired within that 300 roster,or if you know someone who was eligible to be hired its time to "LAWYER UP"! Step up,fight for your rights.I have a phone # of an atty who might be interested in representing you! Biased questions? The case of MOCHA(Men of Color Helping All) vs Buffalo was proven that questions were not biased. The lawsuit was thrown out because they could not prove that a question was biased. Now you want to bring up biased-- because of a certain decree in place questions are deleted under a 4/5ths scoring method. As mentioned before on here, that causes a disparate impact on others because questions were deleted in favor of a certain group of minoritys. When will it end, aren't we all created equally???
  25. :DGood one Hess !
