Thats a GREAT idea about an Emergency! movie, I'd love to see Emergency! The Complete # Season on DVD as well, CHiPs too....those are my favorite TV shows of all time. As far as the Dukes Of Hazard goes....the movie is coming out next summer. Jessica Simpson is Daisy, and Johnny Knoxville is Luke.

I passed by Washington Engine at 0300hrs this AM, as of then there appeared to be NO XMas decorations....were they turned off or not there yet???

According to the Nov '04 edition of First Responder News/Swankie News........the Wheeled Roach ad says "Mohegan Lake Volunteers" have a new bus on order? Any truth to this? Suprising to me, I would think LMFD*EMS would have gone with a PL Custom or Road Rescue. Also, I heard a rumor that Elmsford FD is getting ready to order a new Wheeled Roach Shortly.

Nothing better? Even better than that new camera smell on Xmas AM? LOL.

Good to see Chevrolet is reintroducing the Tahoe in a Police Package. It's definetly needed IMO....sometimes a regular stock Tahoe just doesn't cut it.

I'll believe it when I see it done. This process has been ongoing since 1994. Hopefully, it won't be nearly as ugly, out of place, and impractical as Village Hall/ PD Heaqurters, which was built in 1996. The Village and the PD then moved out of the Municipal Building, which now houses only the FD......what a skell move by them. They got what they wanted, out of the detiororating building described below and left the FD to continue to be toyed with by the incompetence and could-care-less about the FD Village Board. Sure, the village has financed beautiful and fully loaded apparatus. But they have continued to delay and strip down a much needed new firehouse to the point where it's probaly going to be just some bays with a couple rooms, not the modern Fire-Rescue headqurters it should be. Ardsley has shown gross negligence and disregard for its firefighters safety and well being by allowing the current house to remain in operation as long as it has. I LOVE the current firehouse, its filled with stories history and legacy, but sometimes its not practical to keep a building alive for those reasons solely. For those that do not know, Ardsley FD is operating out of a 110 plus year old former converted schoolhouse. The apparatus barely fits in the bay, in fact all the appartus with the exception of Old Betsy have had to be custom manufactured to fit in the house, and all have recieved some sort of damage due to the houses size. There is no exhaust system. No decontamination facilities. No Cascade system. The gear and gear up areas are directly in the path of moving appartus. There are no excercise facilities. There is a steep steep staircase to the second level. Foundation is crumbling. No safe place to park and get into the building during a call, especially in the winter. No facilities to top off the booster tank. No shower facilities. Painted=slippery floors. Poor lighting. crumbling exterior and interior. Bat and rat infestation. contaminated soil. asbestos. Should I go on??? All the money they spent on architects, consultants, etc they could have paved the new firehouse with gold. Ardsley Village Board. Destroying and Yuppy-izing Ardsley. No respect for the true and original residents of the village. Their motto is "Dont make over $100,000 a year?? Then get out!! " :sad:

I had the chance to see Engine 185 in person yesterday, briefly, just as they were about to paint the Elephant on. It looks pretty good, looking foward to a chief showing me more of the features. (Spy Shot By x635)

They shouldn't be allowed to be full firefighters if they are under 18 years old, period. Any department that still allows members to be full fledged firefighters under the age of 18 is archaeic. Letting teenagers, to an incident with such potential for danger and injury, is asking for trouble. THIS IS NOT 1962 anymore!!!! Firefighting is a PROFESSION, not a hobby or social club!!! Teenagers, IMO, are not developed enough yet to be able to be a professional firefighters, nor should they be placing themselves in that danger at that point in their life. I beleive absolutely in junior corps, but allowing them on a major interstate and having them stand around, doing nothing, at the foot of the scene, not wearing anything reflective, then what is the purpose of them being there in the first place??? Flare gophers I can only assume. That's total BS! That's like saying you've got someone hemmoraging, but you can't do anything because you didnt bring your gloves or first aid kit....but at least you're there.(Note Sarcasm) Go to a scene, bring the approriate equipment. If the truck has ANY chance to go on a highway, than it should have the minimum, at least, amount of equipment to PROTECT the crew. PLUS blocking a scene with a mini attack, when you have an more visible scothlite equipped engine AND very well lit HELP truck pulled to the side to the direct right of the MVA, is retarded. Period. Once again, THIS IS NOT 1962 anymore!!!! Highways are sometimes just as dangerous as going into a fire, and often are responded to more often than structural calls, yet why don't some departments reconize the highways as a dangerous place??????? Even worse, EMS agencies who are grossly negligent protecting their members on the highway.....but that in itself could be a whole seperate topic.

It's $900 for the D-Reb and the kit lens package. You will have to buy a CF card, as I said a 1 or 2 GB, which currently retails for between $70 and $150, depending on the size and model of the card. Also, don'tforget a good case, one of which can usually be had for around $50-$70, a protective lens filter, for around $15, and, IMO, thats all you really need to start. I think personally the Rebel would be a good camera for you to start off with too.

I like the new Engine 84....however the only thing that bothers me is how there is no big Engine 84 on the side doors of the rig. It's like they are not proud of being Engine 84 or something.... And personally, I would like to see VFD start taking delivery of Maxim's again, lol!!!

I love my D-Reb! It takes great photos, and has some nice automatic settings, I just wish I had more time to learn about photography so I could make better use of this camera. Does DFHS have a photography class? If so, I'd highly reccomend taking it. However, I was originally aiming for the Nikon D-70, for some reason. When I went to buy it in April, they were having a ton of problems with the software, and the Nikon plant that made the D70's had to shut down to "retool", meaning I would have to wait at least 2 months to get one of the newly produced versions of the camera. So I got the Canon D-Reb, and I love it, but I still wonder if the D70 wouldve been better. A major portion of the decision bewteen the two is wheter you have a film SLR camera now, and what lenses you have with it. If you have Canon EOS lenses, then go with the D-Reb, they are compatible. Same with the Nikons. When buying the D-reb, make sure you buy a large memory card....I'd reccomend a 1GB CF card, which is what I use in my camera now. Also, I'd invest in a spare battery, a filter to protect the lenses, and a good quality case....I use the Tamarac bag, which offers excellent protection for my camera. Also note there is a $100 rebate available for the D-Reb, bringing the price to $899 at Canon authorized retailers. (Try and get the limited edition all-black Canon Digital Rebel) The only thing I don't like about my D-reb....is that it is sometimes hard to focus in low light. Other than that I love it. (Please note some of my advice came from tbendick and Truck4 who always pass along advice when I have questions. My photography knowledge is nothing, though I hope the above advice is not total jibberish and helps a little)

Awesome photos!! The 1962 Mack C is HOT!! Is it still around/in service anywhere? Too bad the Croton FD doesnt really believe in keeping their history alive...... :-( Also, seems like E-119 has a long history of using Macks....until they purchased Tanker 10, which coulda and shoulda been on a Mack chasis!!

I personally know a couple of members from this department. I will be making them quite aware of what happened. I know they read this post, too.
