  1. I got to agree with JJL. I got to give Matt props too. When we got our Lukas tools, he came to our FD and we got some excellent training on the tools. Alot of what you buy and get out of the tool depends on the dealer. It's nice to have one that not only knows how to sell the tool, but how it works and how to use it.
  2. I personally feel this is a great tool, especially for somebody with horrible handwriting such as myself. I saw a demo when it was in beta phase, It can really make charting easier for the EMS providers....Some of the features I liked best were that it could pull up pt history, billing info, and especially how easy it made it to actually write the chart. Definetly also makes things easier for the managment end as well. I beleive Stamford EMS is going with this, I wonder if we will be seeing a pilot program in Westchester anytime soon.
  3. Comprehensive Fire News Site for the South Carolina Area, great layout and alot of good information: http://www.sconfire.com/

  7. That's awesome, Thanks for the history lesson YonkersR3!!! Too bad the hospitals and YPD/YFD discontinued EMS ...I wonder why they didn't try to continue it.

  15. My personal favorite is Ardsley's firehouse, just because of the history/memories I have with it, and the history behind it. I think Armonk's new FH will go on my list when complete, and I saw Banksville's recently renovated new Qt's, which is also pretty nice. Hartsdale Station 1, Pound Ridge, Bedford Hills, Katonah, New Rochelle Station 3,Mohegan Hollowbrook are among MANY others on my list.
  16. On the front page of EMTBravo.com today is the new MVPD ESU Truck 3, which was aqquired surplus from NYC. Mount Vernon PD has several vehicles as does Yonkers that have been aqquired at a low cost as surplus, refurbished in house, and put to good use where it would have been unrealistic to buy a unit new. In the chat room the other night, this topic came up. It was said that if people were willing to take the time and effort, an old NYPD ESU Radio Patrol truck would make a great mini-rescue or brush truck. It was also stated (DG795) that Yorktown DPW has aqquired a former NYPD ESU truck as a DPW ESU. My question is, has any FD or EMS agency in Westchester considered or done this? I think it is a great low cost idea to supplement your fleet.
  17. Does your department modify operations or equipment or do anything unique to operate in this weather?
  18. Today (12/5/03) is my 1 year anniversary from my "retirment" from 60 Control..how time flies...........I found this interesting because on that date last year, we had a snowstorm as well. :D/
  19. Thanks guys!!
  20. As Rememer585 said and DG795 can elaborate, Yorktown FD also recently formed an Explorer/Junior Firefighter Program....Maybe you can "form an alliance" and drill together, and maybe some will be attracted or grow a greater respect for EMS/learn to work together better earlier.
  21. JEMS did an article on this (earlier this year?) i remember now, still looking for the copy.....
