  1. It already happened...Kings College. For a number of years before the fire, we had numerous drills and inspections, but knew if it went, it would be difficult to fight and dangerous to personnel
  2. 21 based on County List http://www.westchestergov.com/emergserv/ap...tus/APP2005.pdf
  3. Loads of places On Main Street - Paeses (Italian and Pizza) Very Good Amalfys - more formal Italian On North State Road Briar's - Streak and other foods (very good) Squires - Bar/Rest - Burgers to steak (good) There are a number of other places as well Enjoy
  4. What apparatus should be closest to the scene of a residental fire. Should only engines be in front so that they do not have to add to their 200' cross-lay attack lines or should they carry longer attack lines. What does your department carry? Should the aerial or tower ladder be placed closest with engines nearby, where does your department place theirs. Does your department have procedures permitting proper placement of both engine and ladder
  5. Would not get Tivo, too costly with the forever monthly fees. Instead got a Sony DVD recorder with hard drive. Does all the same things as tivo but without the monthly fees. Also if your cable service supports the format, you get a electronic tv guide that you pick and choose what you want to record. I love it
  6. I just think that people learn from there mistakes and sometimes they should be given another chance (after the beating). You have got to be kidding! A mistake is when you make a left turn when it should have been a right and you get lost. Yeah we can learn from that. This action was not a mistake, it was a decision to do something that is known to be WRONG. You cannot tell me that if you had been Lorena Bobbits husband (we all know what happened there :chainsaw: ) that you would have said it was just a mistake, give here another chance, everyone deserves a second chance. I don't think so!!! This person must now be punished for this crime.
  7. It is at the main firehouse. KME personel are here Thrusday to Sat (except Friday Night) to train on the aerial, hydralic and electronic systems. We are taking it to a remote are of Briarcliff (no - not 2052's - not remote enough) for that training. It is in the FH at night
  8. Unfortunately we will not have the new TL40 at the Plsvl parade. With the excepting two items, all the lettering and striping is done. I am trying to get some pixs over.
  9. Briarcliff dispatched by Briarcliff PD.
  10. And lets remember how strong that foundation is... watch your head if you are down stairs [-o< [-o<
  11. Very soon... waiting for the lettering and striping to be done next week.
  12. Our current L40 is not prepiped. We do have a pre-piped fog nozzel that does not extend with the ladder but on this truck we set up hose. The new TL40 will be pre-piped. Water does not remain in prepiped waterways. You normally want to drain it out or leave the gate open before retracting the aerial or you will blow the seals
  13. In our village we have it on the Rescue, but I believe it should be on the ladder. The ladder is the only apparatus that responds only to structure fires and is responsible for search and rescue. The rescue, or any of the engines, could be at an accident during a fire call making the TIC usless
  14. The Tech Rescue team that has been training for 3 years have not gotten approval solely due to politics. Everytime they go before the county legislature, Pagano stands up and says no, and they say ok! The only way we are going to get a Tech Rescue Team is after the next disaster, then the board can ignore the union and give the people of this county what they should have been given 2 years ago. The only way that the County Board of Legislature will ever take the volunteer service seriously is when we have become a unified organization that they fear more than the unions It is really unfortunate that we cannot work together.
  15. We actually tested a Metz truck, has pros and cons. Pros was a short truck, very manuverable with a very versital 100' bucket/aerial (the bucket is removable). You could short jack this truck and still get great reach, the computers make sure you don't overdue it. The one we looked at had a pump, but could had without. The cons were storage ability, the removable bucket and the capacity of the bucket. Storage, even without the pump was less than what we have now on our 100' Seagrave and minimal compliment of ground ladders. The removable bucket bothered some of our team and the bucket capacity, if I remember correctly was only about 600 pounds.
  16. The new tower ladder 40 is in final production and is finally taking shape. Expected delivery date is in mid April, The only major component left to go on the truck is the ladder section.
  17. In Briarcliff we use different color helmets. Engine companies wear black, ladder members wear yellow, chief of course is white and safety is orange. We have had one company go a step further by replacing company numbers with badge numbers on their helmut shields. While I think it makes some sense to individualize equipment as much as possible, the numbering system did not make much sense to me unless you have a very good memory who belongs to each number ](*,) . Another use special probationary shields, which is a great approach to quickly identify trainee's in a sea of black =D>
  18. There were a number of considerations that went into deciding on a TL vs stick Member safety was of paramont concern but other factors were involved. Our village contains assisted care facilities, nursing homes and the Kings College property with have a large scale facility as well. Evacuation of elderly patients using a stick is a tricky and challenging operation, not to mention the pure fear these people would have going down a stick. A tower ladder just made more sense for this purpose. Bob O'Hanlon Briarcliff Manor Hook & Ladder Co 2nd Lt
  19. Let me jump in on the new KME TL40. The truck will be a KME 95' mid mount in white with red strip as Doug e had mentioned. We are expecting delivery in April, 05. Briarcliff presented some unique challenges for a truck of this size, one mentioned are the steep hills. To mediate that, we had the rear of the truck redesigned with a steeper angle off the back wheels to eliminate the potential for bottoming out. Bob O'Hanlon Briarlciff Manor Hook & Ladder Co 2nd Lt
