  1. They are using the Yonkers Strages at 291 Tuckahoe Road, opposite Shop Rite. Bunch of prop New Jersey cop cars parked there if you want photos.
  2. Two councilmembers speaking last night at a community meeting said the soon to be released Final Environmental Impact Studay for the Ridge Hill development will contain a new engine company staffed by 25 firefighters and an additional one man poilce car will be added to the First precinct which encompasses Ridge Hill. Unknown whether or not another patrol sector will be added or the exisitng fourwithinthe precinct will be realligned. Maybe Truck 4 knows the answer ???? The City Council will soon vote to accept the F.E.I.S. which does not mean the project has been approved.
  3. FYI: The exisitng Staion 10 on Tuckahoe Road is I believe, landmarked, so if closed it cannot be demolished. This would make for a better YFD Museum than the Warburton Avenue location. Though the parking is lousy.
  4. P.S.--The Draft DEIS appears on cityofyonkers.com in the Doing business in Yonkers section. The fire and police section is III, Page K-13. Very, very interesting manpower and staffing stuff discussed. Somebody please cut and paste. Don't miss.
  5. What's the sense to both Pelhams having separate poilce commissioners for such small forces when one commissioner could do the job? Why have two cops on desk duty 24hours a day, seven days a week, when one cop could easily handle both departments? How many walk ins a day do both police depts receive?
  6. Showing my age. Anybody have 1960's or early 1970's pictures of YPD cars? It's possible they may appear in the backround of YFD fire photos. Thank You.
  7. Ha ! Ha! Happy April Fool's Day !!!!!!!!!!!
  8. And I wasn't even taking pictures, just just want to give everybody a heads up. Camera phones are possibly discreet enough, but is the photo quality any good???
  9. Sorry to have read this in their IMDB.COM message baord, but after the remaining 5 episodes beginning April 8th, Third Watch will not return. And the ratings always were high for their time slot. Wonder what happened?? How will the show end????????i
  10. Which jurisdiction owns the vehicles used by the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force? As you know, several town municipalities participate in this task force.
  11. Truck4, Actually I meant in a situation not requiring YPD ESU and only if the Anumal Shelter is not available, would Greenburgh Animal Control then respond into our jurisdiction? What does a person do if they find a stranded, injured animal and Yonkers shelter is closed??? Thank You
  12. Does Greenburgh Animal Control ever respond if needed to neighboring communities like Yonkers? And has the Greenburgh PD ever acquired undercover ( not unmarked, big difference) vehciles through forfeitures and/or seizures from criminals???
  13. And the City Council just voted to accept a van being donated by Empress to serve as a YFD Communications platform. I think the van is about 8 or 10 years old.
  14. Will return April 8th for final five episodes of the season.
  15. The CGI is very expensive and time consuming. TV shows like this typically shoot one episode on an 8 day schedule. And at least they shoot in neighborhoods outside of played out midtown.
  16. Also post your message on fordyce.org/scanning, Westchester section.
  17. Mount Vernon PD is going digital sometime in the near future with their new radio system. Don't know exactly when or whether or not same frequencies will be used. Remember, every cop nowadays is using either a personal or department supplied Nextel or cell phone so you will hear less sensitive stuff on the air. Don't know your Fire Dept. questions.
  18. 25Truck26, Good points brought up in your posting and thanks for alerting us. Once again, the media causes public distortion in public safety stories. I am glad I actually didn't see this piece which sounds typical ofsimilair reporting from News (Schmooze) 12 and it daily stories poached from the newspapers.
  19. So this plan means that all the town village cops and fire will be dispatched from the two existing Greenburgh Police frequencies??????? Thank You. Stay Warm. "Third Watch" is not on tonight.....
  20. Seeking your valued opinions regarding the best pre paid cell phone for my very, very limited usage. T-Mobile pay as you go is likely my choice per recommendations. Tracfone is a big ripoff and nightmare to even get activated. Any others please? Thank You
  21. Not worth being on 24 hour call. When my work day ends, it ends. Period.
  22. As the name suggests, is this regional fire dept made up of just the northern communities in Hudson County, NJ ? If so, which ones?? I know that Hoboken and Jersey City are not included. You may well see something regionalized in Westchester like this someday. Even with some of the smaller police depts like Pelham and Pelham Manor they may be mergers. Why waste two cops x three shifts per day on desk duty alone? Makes no sense. Thank You.
  23. You guys should publish contact information for Code 3 and encourage everybody to write them with suggestions for future editions. It's amusing to think how many potential customers are out there aside from us buffs. Every other little corner store in Yonkers would likely sell a ton of the Code 3 editions, given the chance. Ebay still has them, plus the discontinued YPD car. And I am touched in hearing about a possible edition dedicated to the late Chris Kiernan of YFD, who's late father, was a co worker of mine many years back. He too, was a proud YFD member. Here's a golden opportunity for both YFD unions to raise monies by selling the commemorative editions. I for one, would like to see 1960's orange and blue YPD cars. Am showing my age now !!!!I think they switched to blue and white about 1970 or so with the purchase of AMC Matadors. Am I correct? And that's also when they may have switched to UHF from their former two VHF channels. Happy Holidays from the good doctor.
  24. Will the Yonkers Fire rigs remain at Ridge Hill when it is someday developed? If not, where will they be relocated to ??? There is absolutely no room at YFD HQ and the Nepperhan Avenue service center. Thanks and Happy Holidays to all. Dr. Zuki Yonkers
  25. There is a full time guard house at the entrance just off the Thruway. I was up there during Yonkers Business Week two years ago which is prior the YFD occupation up there. Since we already have a neighborhood nicknamed "The Birdcage", Ridge Hill could be "The Bird's Nest."
