  1. Ang ...you should check with George as there are other transplanted Westchester retired firefighters in the Keys. George has been attempting to maintain the accountability board (he is board certified) as to their current status and assignments. You may have to increase the hydration components of your relief efforts. Also George might need some more teriyaki sauce for the black tail tuna in his freezer........
  2. We have not determined what vehicle was being operated. Were they ticketed for operating lights and siren on their organizations ambulance, or were they ticketed for operating their own POV? The fact that 2 were ticketed would lead me to believe they were operating POV. I can't see how 2 people can be ticketed for operating an ambulance. The summons is issued to the operator not the entire crew.
  3. I loved when we had riders in the Vern who would ask, 'why are there drains in the elevator floor'??
  4. You got the W.P. Amb 1 hand me down. That orange box set up between the front seats of the ambulance, with just the antenna on the unit worked great with a 1 wtt. portable. I can't remember having any problems contacting W.P. or St. Agnes hospitals from anywhere in White Plains. From the lowest inside point of the Galleria to the pool at Saxon Woods we had coverage.
  5. If it was good enough for Johnny and Roy, It's good enough for the rest of us !!!!!
  6. When is the SEVERE weather going to get here......or should I open my awning up and put the porch set back together ????
  7. My tax dollars hard at work in the Vern and Pelham. Maybe I can get a bail out from Obama !!!!
  8. Someone who is a friend to city hall must need a quick 6K. Let's see what local firm has what connection to city hall ?????
  9. I guess it's a done deal. If there is a logo it must be happening !!!!!!
  10. This sounds just like the "Vile of Life" program that was tried about 20-25 years ago. Same concept....sticker at the front door...plastic vile in the refrigerator with all medical info...... That program didn't catch on either. The problem with in the car or in the home storage is there are multiple people that use the car or live in the house. The first responder has to first verify the people involved and then judge if the info is up to date. Most people who need to have there info available use the medical alert bracelet or necklace. These people are usually good about keeping their info current with medical alert and on their wallet cards.
  11. They are the primary mutual aid companies. However the on duty D.C. can change the assignment at the time of the request. If there is an agreement with an adjoining fire district, the nearest company to the incident would be on the alarm assignment.
  12. Ok Barry then go after the county sewer tax !!! We don't need no stinking flush toilets !!!!!! Out house were good enough for my great grandparents.
  13. You are right. The only ones to benefit are the Pelhams. As a resident of Eng 3's first due area near the Town of Mamaroneck border, every time Eng 23 would go to Pelham my next due engine is either 25 or 21. Both are 8-10 minutes away depending on traffic/weather conditions. If the people want to save on taxes go after the Board of Education, not the fire service.
  14. Which guys are you referring to??? Are you commenting on the jakes from N.J. or are you referring to ALL the participants that were shuttled from Harbor Island to the starting point. As I waited for the parade to start I saw no less than 30 shuttle trips made by VMFD rigs with people in the hose bed and standing on the tail and running boards. These rigs were not moving at a walking pace as the N.J. rig was, but were moving at a good clip to move as many parade participants as possible to the beginning of the parade.
  15. Barry you should give me ALL your rep points for knowing you before you were a mere first responder and a probie. Also for the trouble you would get me into on New Rochelle Amb. 1.
  16. Actually I should take points away from you. It took me a week to get the blood out of my clothes after you threw the GSW pt's bloodied clothes at me. Look before you throw !!! It's not nice to bloody the Medic that was backing you up !!!!
  17. And I knew Bill when he was a mere first responder.
  18. During the CBS 5 PM news (5:35PM), a Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer Erik Swanson stated that the Coast Guard was on station and all 21 victims were accounted for. He went on to report that Coast Guard units were in the process of searching the area for the possibility of other victims. This was over a hour after the initial 4:20PM distress call. Do you think there was a little miscommunication? Or could have this hoax been so well thought out that the person/persons involved used Coast Guard frequencies and terminology to provide bogus info to land units?
  19. Sorry George. I hope it didn't bring back memories of the shower incident during probie school......
  20. Barry why are you hotwashing tonight??? I thought you washed only every Saturday night ??? If even if you don't need to !!!
  21. Looks like your district got their monies worth of the hydrant rental fees......
  22. Almstead Tree Company 55 Beechwood Ave between Main St and I-95.
  23. What's happening ??????? I'm soooo confused with the new lay out ........
  24. Then the Village of Mamaroneck scenario is a non issue. As to your explanation the Town of Greenburgh departments would fall under the one town one district rule. If this law is passed it would essentially combine the Fairview, Hartsdale and Greenville fire districts into one. Would this law be only on the administrative level or would it also combine the taxing districts?? The one administration would save the new district money but a new district wide tax district would shift more of the money burden from the Fairview section to the Edgemont section.
  25. If the state mandates a single town wide fire district how would a department like the Village of Mamaroneck be dealt with? The Village of Mamaroneck is within 2 towns. The part of the village west of the Mamaroneck River would be part of the Town of Mamaroneck Fire District (which currently exists). The part of the village east of the Mamaroneck River is in the Town of Rye which doesn't have a fire district just 2 village fire departments ( Port Chester F.D. and Rye Brook F.D.) This would split the VMFD in half on an administrative level. Would this single town wide fire district mandate force the Village of Mamaroneck to secede from the 2 towns and become 1) it's own town or 2) a city ?
