  1. While I only knew Bruce for a short period of time, he left a lasting impression.

For a while, there wasn't a night at work (or a day) when you didn't see "The Brothers Kerr" on the schedule as Instructors. I spent quite a few evenings talking with Bruce about the fire service, the weather - whatever. He was down to earth, honest and eager to help shape new firefighters. We had the fortune on a couple of nights to get both brothers, and for that we are thankful.

To Bruce's family, his brother Robert and the brothers in Rye, our sincerest thanks for the lessons learned and may God look over Bruce as he continues to fight fires for the big guy upstairs.

    John Munson

    1st Asst. Chief

    Croton Fire Dept.

Thanks John for your kind thoughts during this difficult time. I will pass them along to our family and are sincerely appreciaed.

  2. Tentative arrangements are for the wake to be held at the Lincoln Park Funeral Home on McClean Ave. Yonkers on Wednesday July 7th 2010 and a funeral mass at St. Casimir's Church on Nepperhan Ave. Yonkers N.Y. on Thursday July 8th, 2010. Final arrangements will be posted as they become available. I thank you on behalf of his sisters, brothers and daughters.

    Robert D. Kerr

  3. I laughed at the end of the game when Jeter was getting interviewed and they were bringing up that their last series appearance was 2003 and the last win was in 2000, and Jeter said, "Thanks for bringing up the negative."

    Let's go Yankees!

I caught that too, John. Ken Rosethal is a little FOX weasel. Jete handled it well and then I switched to YES.

  4. I have known John for 20-plus years since my brother got on the job in Rye FD. I will miss his stories of the old days in Hartsdale. He had a long devotion to the fire service and he will surely be missed. My condolences to the Wickham family and the members of the Rye FD.

  5. "City firefighters, responding to a dryer fire that filled a coin-operated laundromat with smoke yesterday morning, had just entered the Welcher Avenue building and were working on the blaze when the smoke triggered the sprinkler system, Fire Chief John Pappas said."

Outside of Hollywood how many sprinkler systems are operated by smoke detectors?

What is the likelyhood that this laundromat actually had one of these special system?

I caught that too Barry when I read the paper today. They must have had those smokable link sprinklers.

  6. R1- If my memory serves me correctly I think Battalion 2 and L70 were sent with an Engine Co. (I believe either E311 or E313).

I can't believe it's ten years! I checked out the pictures and there was L4 stuck on the practice green of the golf course. If it wasn't for the Village's front end loader we would have to leave it there and make a minature golf course around it. I remeber working the D expossure building with 61 engine and then working the penthouse with FDNR. Tommy Mo was there so I got to work a job with him.
