  6. anyone know what is going on? I see cars backing down entrance ramps, state vehicles blocking lanes, traffic at a standstill, and a bird hovering overhead. Looks like motorists are being redirected to my neck of the woods. Any info is great. thanks.

  8. I learned at my quarterly meeting last night a total of 65,000 gallons was dumped on the fire. The family's house who burnt is actually very good friends with my family. That house was gorgeous, they went to over 150 open houses to take designs they liked before constructing that one. The homeowner's were the ones who reported it. The house was struck by lightning which knocked out all electrical so the alarm company never received the alarm. when he came home with his family, they saw the smoke from the rear of the house and called it in, but it was too late. My family and I were on vacation when it burnt so i was not there, but i talked to him yesterday and they are alright.

Date: 5/17/09 Time: 21:00 Location: 126 Bridgeport Ave Frequency: SEMS, SPD Units Operating: 2v15, 1v11, 1v12, 5z1, many SPD, 901, 902, 903, 908, 970 Weather Conditions: wet Description Of Incident: 2v20 called CMED requesting SPD and an EMS officer to 126 Bpt ave IFO the ice cream shop for an MVA. CMED then asked for a description and 2v20 alerted they were hit head on and both cars had heavy damage. 2v20 crew reported they were uninjured. they were traveling north on Bpt ave normal traffic not responding when a vehicle cut in front of them and collided head on. airbags in both vehicles deployed and everyone was restrained. The young lady that hit them was not under any influence and sustained a minor foot injury. she was treated by 2v15 crew but was not transported to a hospital but 2v20 crew was per protocol. 2v20 (2008 E350 AEV van 8k miles) is totaled and was stripped o/s before the tow truck.   12. is this like an even for a department as a whole or can i just go and participate? i am not an explorer but i am liking the sounds of some of this. i am interested. one way or another i'm sure i'll be going.
  13. it is possible...dry leaves on the road can catch, also any possible flammable liquids around can ignite.
  14. wow i can't believe they were able to locate a single man pointing a laser. pretty good. truth be told however that situation can become serious if the pilot loses vision, is is impaired. laser pointers aimed at eyes causes a denaturing of the proteins which can temporarily or permanently blind you.

  18. you know i have been thinking...i have a friend that i go to school with, he is 20 years old and is a part time LEO for some town outside of boston...he went to some academy for 3 months...does connecticut do anything similar to this???
