For the fiscal year 2011-2012 the WPFD is budgeted for 161 man job (what a dam shame, not enough at 171 and now 10 less, thats another conversation) but they are currently short of that due to the economy. YEAH RIGHT, THE ECONOMY, WP JUST BROUGHT IN OVER 50 MILLION DOLLARS, YES 50 MILLION DOLLARS IN SALES TAX. BUT STILL COMPANY CLOSURES DUE TO A LACK OF MANPOWER, WHAT A JOKE.

I ask this because i live in portugal, and i'm going to change to newark, and i want to do the same thing i do in portugal, i'm a firefighter in my coutry and i like be professional firefighter in newark.

Seth i have always thought of getting one, My one question that i have not been able to find is are the frequency's from a web source like radio reference or is it just like an actual scanner???. But enjoy it.

I think the biggest issue was the timeslot. Saturday nights just aren't a great time for people to sit down and watch a show like AMW. I think it could be very successful as a show in weekday primetime, or maybe spliced in to the nightly news during the week.

Then again, I know very little about the TV industry, so this is just me talking.

Bingo good show bad time,I used to watch amw and cops alot back when i was young and had no outside life,but to tell you the truth i cant remember the last time i spent a saturday night home to watch tv. Fox should just move it to a different time slot on a weekday instead of showing the same reruns of family guy,the office,etc.

Typical journal news reporting. The East SIde Access project is not a direct connection between Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station. It is a new tunnel from Queens utilizing the lower level of the 63 street tunnel and then under Park Avenue to a new LIRR terminal underneath the lower level of Grand Central. It was designed to give Long Islanders better access to midtown Manhattan around 42 Street, and possibly free up spots in Penn Station in the future for Metro North via the HelLs Gate Bridge or West side. Amtrak and NJ Transit will not use this at all. You will still have to take subway between Penn Station and Grand Central. Check out railroad.net for more info. According to sources there, Penn Station is operating at capacity and any slots freed up by LIRR trains going to Grand Central, Amtrak has first shot at followed by NJ transit. Work on the tunnel from 63/Lexington to Grand Central has been going on via tunnel boring machines for the last few years. The hardest part of the project, connecting the current tunnel underneath the East River to LIRR's sunnyside yard in Queens still has to be dug and will be the hardest and most expensive part of the project.

Can Metro north trains even run on the hell's gate Bridge, i thought amtrak and metro north run 2 diffrent locomotives??

I am hoping to be there, but it's not the guarantee that it was when they had the Sunday date. Two other events that day (muster in Franklin, NJ and the NJ Metro Fire Photographers' Photo Night). Time-wise, there is a chance to squeeze this in as well. We shall see how things go.

here is the current white plains squad. Taken during the multi alarm fire back in july.

Squad 4 is stationed at WPFD's station 2 on Ferris avenue, quarter's of E66 and TL6. The squad is not a staffed company, when needed the men of E66 and TL6 will pit it in use, every FF stationed at 2 are trained in Haz Mat and WMD.

ok thanx for the info,one or 2 more questions. I guess it will roll on a hazmat call. I had read somewhere that it also goes on gas leaks??

out of curiosity how is it staffed and what does it respond to. I know i saw it at the multi alarm fire back in july at the bengali tiger. But other than that havent seen or heard much of it.

i think engine 5 and the ladder are paid crews,while engine 4 is volunteer.

Anyone know where I would find a photo of it in it's new home? We go WAY back LOL! I rode to my first fire call in the back of it on 5/1/1991 with it's original department.

With Station 6 now active up on Summerfield, R-5 should be re-established and moved there when Station 5 work is completed. Yes, I know 6 is leased. I'm kidding.

#1 is a lie i havent seen it at a parade. . Now i havent been to many wc fires, but i saw it at the white plains multi alarm fire.

What was eastchester Fd at their height with engines and ladders? I know the rescue was taken out of service and the manpower relocated to the engine,and samething happened to engine 28?? the manpower was transfered to ladder 16. My cousin and his wife live less than a mile away from the tuckahoe fire house, and on late nights when the highway traffic has quieted down, you can hear ladder 16's siren as it responds.I have a video of the ladder responding.
