  8. On November 19th @ aprox 2215 hours Radio HQ [44-Control] started transferring the first of many cellular 9-1-1 calls from an intox male that would only tell us he was at the McDonalds in Central Nyack. Luckily he was calling from a Wireless Phase 2 call and we could see that he was in that general vicinity. Our officers searched the area over and over and there was no one to be found. The male would keep calling back saying he could see the officers. We begged and pleaded with him to come out from wherever he was hiding but he wouldn't. Finally one of our officers saw a head peak out of the top of a dump truck parked around the corner from McDonalds. At 2241 hours just as I was getting out of work my fire department was requested to the scene with a ladder to assist in the removal. Nyack Ambulance & Medic 5 were also dispatched. Blame it on 4Loko !
  9. ANI ALI on cell isn't as good as a landline phone naturally but better then nothing. Cellular should give you the callers phone #, wireless carrier, whether it is a Wireless Phase 1 or Phase 2 call, the address of cell tower the phone call is hitting off, the Latitude & Longitude of the caller. VOIP is a whole other mess. NEVER trust VOIP information. Those damn Magic Jacks are the DEVIL ! People register them one place and then take them elsewhere and when they dial 9-1-1, they still get the local police where they registered the phone. It happens quite often !
  10. I registered and planned on going as I was originally off but worked O.T. yesterday and went to Active Shooter Dispatch training in Orange County today. Oh well, maybe next year !
  11. The Haverstraw Fire Department recently took delivery of their 2010 KME TDA. The KME replaces a 1969 Peter Pirsch TDA which recently failed it's ladder testing. The 1969 Pirsch replaced a 1937 Peter Pirsch TDA which is now privately owned by a member of the Haverstraw Fire Department. Here is a historic photo of all 3 tillers. Will post individual shots later in the week. Photos are viewable on my website. http://www.brianduddy.com/g/haverstraw
  12. We have pictometry installed on our work computers. As a dispatcher, it definitely comes in handy. I have punched in my firehouse address to show you an example of what the images look like. You can select 4 different views. Here are all 4 views. Now from any of the aerials there are a lot of options you can do. Here are just a few. Distance Height Area Latitude / Longitude
  13. Things are in the works to retain the 1969 Pirsch, that's all I can say !
  14. Haverstraw's Tiller has been delivered to Ruscon. A few cell phone photos from a friend. Will post better photos once it's lettered and I photograph it.
  15. Over 500 photos from the parade - http://www.brianduddy.com/g/rcvfa100210
  16. All 26 departments in Rockland will be attending plus outside companies as well. I will be photographing the parade. Haven't picked out a spot yet. Probably along the Rosman Road straightaway near Thiells Elementary School. If anyone else is planning on photographing it, send me a PM or e-mail. 17. I wish I knew you were coming down Eli. Glad you got to experience it. Nice photos ! This was certainly the highlight of my night ! Three Forty Three went into service earlier that morning. They were out for a jumper and were kind enough to take a stroll down the river toward the Tribute In Lights. I took aprox 500 photos. Will upload more when I can. http://www.brianduddy.com/g/091110
  18. Updated info via Facebook: Just got home from the hospital with some real promising signs, bile production, blood cleaning, and clotting factors! Still a long way to go, but thank God and the donor for a big step forward!
  19. Bev was one of my 2 partners working that shift. She picked up the phone and I picked up with her. As soon as I heard the 7 year old sister tell her that she pulled her 1 year old brother out of the pool I started toning out the Ambulance & Paramedics immediately. She continued to EMD the call, child was not breathing, while Dispatcher Quinones dispatched the Police Officers. After the mother gave rescue breaths the child started coughing up the pool water and then started crying. It was so good to hear the child cry as you can imagine. On a side note, the news media came to the Police Station to interview Bev today and about a half hour after everyone left we had a 5 year old girl pulled from a pool in Nanuet with reported CPR in progress by a lifeguard. The 5 year old was transported ALS to Nyack Hospital. This was the third near drowning we have had this summer and unfortunately I have been working for all 3 of them. Thank god all 3 of them had a happy ending.
