  1. 3. It Came from New York

A fire station in New York once owned the truck.

    More from Pine-Richland Patch

" Flaherty said the truck sustained some damage to the tower during a call. Rather than spend the money to get it fixed, the New York station decided to turn it over to Seagrave to be refurbished while the station bought a new engine, Flaherty said."

    Is that what really happend?

    If that is true................WOW

  2. Just curious?

Mount Pleasant is a town in Westchester County, New York, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 43,724.[2] The villages of Valhalla, Hawthorne, Thornwood ,

Pleasantville and part of Briarcliff Manor lie within the town,[a] as well as a number of hamlets.

The town has a total area of 32.7 square miles (85 km2), of which 27.7 square miles (72 km2) is land and 5.0 square miles (13 km2), or 15.26%, is water.

    Taken from Wikipedia.

Is there a formula for how many BLS and ALS units a town this size needs?

  3. Not knowing about the situation, If you wanted to dispatch and not go to 60.....

Wouldn't it be cheaper to hire civilian dispatchers and train them?

Seems to be a waste of a FF position when the departments are constantly runnning short on manpower.

Maybe its time for Greenville, Fairview and Harstdale merge dispatch since you respond together all the time.

    My 2 cents

  4. I respectfully disagree. Most people only know that the loud noise means that there's an emergency somewhere. You'd be shocked to learn how many people have no idea (and don't give a damn either) whether or not theirs is a volunteer or paid department.

You are right!!! But when they ask or complain, you can explain why it's going off and let them know were always looking for new bodies.

    Be Safe.

  5. So here is my 2 cents worth,

We have Open Houses, Volunteer Drives, a community holiday Party for the Kids and a Santa's wagon etc. every year.

Most of the communities in Westchester believe they are protected by carreer or paid fire houses.

One of the differences, "the Sirens".

If they hear the siren, The community knows their volunteer fire department is responding to some emergency!
