  1. wow that was a horrible accident. I can't believe that it was caught on film, it looks as though both vehicles were going pretty fast. I send my wishes to all involved in this accident and hope for a speedy recovery [-o<
  2. Hey Seth I believe that when BHFD got 57 truck it was on the list of appartatus to be done by code three but soon after the rig was supposed to be done 9-11 came. I really don't know if that was the actual reason why they didn't make the rig or not but that is what I heard. It would sefinately be cool to have that among my code 3 rigs in my display case..... Does anyone know how to go about submitting info/pictures to code three for a possible release?
  3. No way hes too busy sitting in the corps sucking up all the air AC on hot days. Love ya Dayday 8)
  4. I was on stand by with eng 198 and just to add 110 was only out of service for about 10 to 15 min while they were filling the eng with water.
  5. As an engine co. officer i would like to say that the engine should go first BUT.....I think that I'll have to say truck first due to structure related calls. In a paid dept it makes sense that the truck responds first. I have been involved in some drills lately around the area and having the truck locate the fire, vent and then do a quick search is the way to go. Then the engine co. who hopefully has a water supply can then follow the truck and extinguish the fire.(in my opinion only) When your in a volly dept like myself responding to a 10-75 there is so much to do with limited manpower to begin with. The truck usually not to far behind us but it would be so much better if we both rolled out the door together or if the truck responded first. Between two crews all the jobs that have to be accomplished right away would be taken care of. As opposed to the engine crew trying to accomplish all of the duties of two crews. :blahblah:
  6. Who do you think got hit in the last episode in the hospital room by the bullets.
  7. I'm usually in the front of the first engine out the door 90% of the time, but this time my lieutenant was awake and heard the pd dispatch a car. So he beat me to the rig and the front seat. Anyways while we were coming into the property and close to the house it was almost like we were out west. There were crap loads of horses everywhere. There was no driveway lights so all you saw was the strobes and lights flashing on the horses. Besides the fact that they were probablly scared from the fire now there were trucks everywhere with tons of lights. (no sirens ofcourse we were trying to hear the chief on the highband) As you can see by the pictures the entire barn was fully involved so our main concern was the exposure on the far left hand side. That is where the groomers lived, then there was a good sized house of some some sort. I don't know if anyone lived there or it was someplace for the kids before they rode horses. To the rear but sit attached was an inside riding area which was enormous. The good thing was that when the lightining hit the groomers woke up right away. The sprinklers were activated so that bought a little time. The head Groomer went from stall to stall freeing the horses. I wish I had seen him because even though we (firemen) hate when people run into the fire other then us, I would have proudly shook his hand and told him that he was amazing and did a wounderful job. I know , I know :blahblah: sorry
  8. I believe that pump was off of e 108 from bedford village (Their source pumper) One of their ex chiefs said it was capeable of pumping something like 500 gpm. Thats impressive for a portable pump.

  11. evryone that day was put into a group Ex. Group 1,2, 3 ...... When the instructors would light a fire in the building each group would have a assuigned job (truck opps, eng co opps stand by crew, safety line.....) Each time they (the instructors) would light a fire that would be evolution 1 , the companys would extinguish the fire then jobs would change for evolution 2. I hope that helped without me ramblin on and on :blahblah:
  12. Can anyone see a fire chief driving one of these? I wonder where they found the room for a radio in there let alone a siren............
  13. Before I got into the digital scene I always had a disposable camera in my bunker pants. I got some of the best shots from that and I couldn't believe it. The only problem that I ever had with that camera is that the night shots don't come out good unless the scene is lit like its day time. I just started using the elph and its good, takes good shots and if you upgrade your memory card you can get a lot of shots in. So far I have onle had one problem with the elph and i have yet been able to fix it. I keep getting memorycard errors. So if I can fix that the camera is great....

  17. I'm from Bedford Hills and we have a 1989 Saulsbury mini Attack (MA-9). Right now we use it for piaa's and brush calls, when we first got it it was used a lot more. Like it's brother (our old mini attack) it was used for every call, it went out first due for everything. In the late 90's like 96 97 there was talk of shifting it to the back row. It only carries 250 gallons of water so with the change in construction and fire load it just wasn't smart to keep it first due. But before the change happened there was an accident in the winter where the rig went off the road. There was one other firefighter besides myself on the back step. He was slightly injured with a back problem and I was fine, so that was pretty much the final straw and it was shifted to the back row. Right now we use it for brush calls and piaa's where it suits our needs. We have a decent amount of Brush equipment on it and are looking into purchasing more for the rig. We also roll second due with our rescue to piaa's. We have a lucas cutter and a combi tool as well as a gas power unit on it. As I write this the powers that be are looking into a little bit of refurbishing on it. Changing some compartments, adding some more storage boxes for brush equip and cribbing for accidents, as well as putting a highly needed white reflective stripe on it. So as I ramble on we definately need and use our Mini Attack to the fullest of it's capeabilities (sp?). Did I mention that we brought it to Altona during the big winter storm a couple of years ago.
  18. Allright well I guess that I will be the first to start the forum by asking a question. I took the written and the agility for list # 2043 and I heard rumor about the list being thrown out. Then I heard that it was just rumor not to worrry. So beyond that I'm still waiting for all the list numbers to come out. So I guess that is the big Question, "does anyone know when the list numbers for 2043 will be coming out..... Hopefully soon [-o<

  21. WOW is he lucky. Did you see the damage done to the cab and the amount that it crumpled. I hope that the tanker in the last couple of shots wasn't their replacement rig, it looks like it has seen better days :-P
  22. That is a reall coll web page. I've seen it before (about six months ago) but I forgot what the web address was. I've been looking for it for awhile with no luck..... Until now thanks seth.. I think the best is the rig section where you can see what is in the compartments =D>
