  7. SFRD Engine 5 out of Fire Station # 5 with Rescue 1 is also a quint. Everyone that I knows seems to like the rigs with no major issues that I can think of. The cabs are pretty roomy and HME makes a pretty good quint, for HME's standards that is.
  8. Interesting. I didn't even know an elevated line went through Yonkers. What year was the photo taken by the way? My guess would be somewhere in the 20's?

  10. Well I guess that's it. The situation looks pretty hopeless. Two YFD companies gone for good, plus the Safety Battalion(half gone). YFD's fleet will now be(if the cuts go through) 9 Engines(10 with the Squad), 5 Ladders, and 1 Rescue. That's a pretty drastic cutback for a city the size of Yonkers. 36 Firefighters laid off too!!! Let's hope that there's still a chance that some money gets through to the YFD by June 30th.

  19. The storm was pretty quick where I am. It only lasted about 10 minutes, but the winds were pretty high with teaming rain. I heard that I-95 was a mess and Rt. 25(Connector) in Bridgeport had quite a few trees down over on-ramps and lanes. One lane of traffic was open Southbound with heavy traffic on both I-95 and the Connector. State Police and BPD were everywhere. I haven't heard much of anything going on North of Bridgeport.
  20. That would be a big blow to fire protection in Yonkers if this happens!!! Hopefully the city will come to it's senses and reconsider!!!
  21. Wow, one of the old Mack C's!!! Too bad Belltown didn't keep it and try to refurbish it and maybe make it a parade piece. One of only 11 open-cabs made in the country if I'm not mistaken.
