  1. Yes it was done, three in a row in three counties! And Ossining's color guard has 6 American flags!
  2. Not sure how it works. Some departments do a seperate trophy, out of state and out of county. Id imagine there will be a lot of trophies today seeing its a convention. Convention parades have different trophy rules (ie. Best regulation 1-5 in line, 6-9 etc) its not quite that restrictive but it is an obnoxious amount of trophies.
  3. I guess IF Ossining wins it will be because all the judges are friend's of Ossining. Oh well. Maybe a parade in Vermont would make it fair.
  4. Ossining most men in line also. Dutchess will be interesting, not on the "home turf", BUT, the judges aren't "friends" up there (not that they are down here either, but I wont get into that), so it will be an impartial opinion.
  5. Ossining Best Engine Best over 40 (I think that was the title) Best Firematic Color Guard Best Overall
  6. He was RETURNING from a mutual aid call.
  7. My point is she sat at the interview and hiring process and said NOTHING about this "special need", she waited until she was on the road and they had no choice. Sure, if she mentioned it and they didnt hire her it would be bad. This should be an interesting landmark case. Although the Ramapo chief should refer to the NYSP case above which clearly makes a judgment on behalf of the employer.
  8. Outlaw those carts all together, they are a menace and get in the way. And I agree, dont blame the 5 year old, blame their so called "parents", they think its cute. Theyre the same ones who let their kids run around restaurants and ruin everyone elses dinner. I love the "if you dont sit down theres no desert", then after they run around for the next half hour, here comes the ice cream!!!
  9. It appears she waited until she graduated the academy to bring this up. What's good for the goose......looks like she'll be the only one working on Easter, Christmas etc when all the Christian officers grieve to get off their religious holidays. This may open a can of worms everywhere!
  10. Just got back from Disney and found the Reedy Creek fire house interesting, check out the pictures Reedy Creek The front has a huge fire helmet and a hydrant with a hose that stretches across the front of the house to the pond and the nozzle shoots water straight up. Although I try not to buff out, especially on vacation, this was pretty cool.
  11. Looks like this story will be on channel 4 at 11pm tonight, saw it or something similar on the coming attractions.
  12. AMEN! We worry about "offending" too many people these days. Unfortunatly, as I've previously stated, this country HAS FORGOT 9/11 and what happened. Not that everyone thats Muslim is a criminal etc etc, but if it is for the safety of a lock up or a plane, take the religious items off, uncover the face etc. BUT!!!!.. you better be taking the wig off the 90 year old guy you lock up for dwi. This country needs to wake up, I thought it got the ultimate wake up call 7 years ago but I guess not! ps-does anyone know how to shrink those pennies? :-)
  13. He will now go down in history at BHS, thanks to the rag, the Journal News. As far as his punishment, he should definitly be charged. The principal grabbing his diploma appears to be a knee jerk reaction and I guess "showed the kid who's really boss". There's no way they can deny him his diploma, the piece of paper on the stage, yes, but not the actual achievment. The days of "they're only kids" are long gone, thats why they do the stuff they do, because everyone makes excuses for them. Hold them accountable and lock em up, you'll see how all this nonsense diminishes.
  14. You might start seeing the ID thing a little more, tis the days of law suits and such. I'm for it, but make sure its announced prior to the parade, like on the invite or something. Most people don't carry their wallets with them at parades. Good heads up on here though.
  15. They don't give ANYONE breaks and they want them? They made their beds...!
  16. He should get some money out of this!!!! Wrongfully accused and hung out to dry, I definitly wouldn't want to go back to work in Mt Kisco, but they can send me a fat check!
  17. He's back today!
  18. This video is stomach turning, how everyone walks and drives by with this guy laying in the street. Finally the guy in the white shirt comes over and appears to be comforting him. Hard to believe out of all the people who saw this no one had first aid training of some sort! We are turning into a third world country. http://news.aol.com/story/_a/bystanders-ig...605164309990001
  19. Tell me this is not the ULTIMATE channel. You can get some crispy ideas for home projects. Is it on Cablevision? I have Verizon.
  20. The boycott should be for Fox news, they're the ones who allowed this garbage to air. Same as the propoganda ridden NY Post, I haven't bought one of their papers since the begining of the war. There was an incident where a car rushed an army checkpoint and they were forced to blow it up, it was full of women and kids if I remember, the front page of the Post said "Slaughtered" the next day with a picture of the car. Sure it was a tragedy but do they have to berate our troops when their job is hard enough!!! Sorry to get off topic.
  21. You know she was blitzed if she was smiling that way, not aware of the financial hardships soon to come for her.
  22. New one I saw last night was Treehouse Project, they build hardcore treehouses, makes ya want to be a kid again. Lots of shows that are "do it yourself" (DIY), you can pick up a lot of ideas, some are way out there cost wise but others are informative.
  23. Minor alarms get 2 pumpers, ladder and rescue. Minors are dumpsters, alarms, cars, wires etc. General gets them all, those are for reported/confirmed working fires or car fires near/in structure, calls of that nature. I forget "town call" (2-1-3. 2-1-4) truck designations, Steve could clarify, but thats all they get, there is no such thing as a "general" in the town, it would strip the village bare.
  24. Minor alarms cover each section of the village, its broken into four sections. 1-1-1-1 (middle of Village, Main st area), 1-1-2 (south end of Village, Arcadian area), 1-1-3 (north end of Village, N. Highland Ave area), 1-1-4 (east side of Village Croton Ave area). Town calls are broken into two, basically split by rt 134, they are 2-1-3 (North of 134) and 2-1-4 (South of 134). Then there's calls for the rescue and a pumper 7-? or 7-7 for rescue (or boat) alone. 6-6 is a general alarm in the village, all 9 trucks go. Then there's a box for individual companies, fast etc.
  25. If one of his neighbors houses caught on fire, I'd pull it out on "the ramp", park it, sit on the front bumper with a stogie and a cup of coffee and watch. I was going to comment on the "dirty pool water" also, its treated and clean, but who cares what's in it as long as it's wet and puts the fire out! I bet you "Ms. Mitchell", the neighbor, was one of the ring leaders in taking "under God" out of the pledge!
