  1. Ok, then it was just rumor. Thanks for the clarification.
  2. Someone told me the cause was a result of the transformer outside that blew and sent a voltage spike down the line into the basement or something. Can anyone confirm or decline that?
  3. In that case, I got nothin. Sorry?
  4. Man with knife Tasered after threatening to jump from Tappan Zee Yonkers cop recounts helping save distraught man on Tappan Zee Bridge This should answer your question. The despondent man began cutting himself with said knife which is when Troopers tased him and pulled him over to safety. Neither says anything about him being handcuffed or about a Thruway worker pulling him over.I would highly doubt that it would be a Thruway Authority worker who would have handcuffed him too, if anything it would have been a trooper who would have done it. Unless I'm misunderstanding here...
  5. That was recently, an odd duty p.o. in an unmarked car was the one to find him. It was in local media, believe lohud had an article.
  6. His rigging was a rope ladder attached to his van though, does that change things or no?
  7. "Davitt, 54, of Garnerville, has attended numerous meetings of the Rockland County Legislature, where he repeatedly alleged he was wrongly fired from his county mental health job." Irony much?
  8. Supposedly rescue workers are a little perplexed as to what they ought to do cuz they're not used to this sort of thing when it comes to the tzb. Rockland Tech Rescue is on scene but they're still trying to game plan as to how to go about this and such, especially since it doesn't appear this guy even wants to be rescued.
  9. There's a story about it on News 12 Westchester today and someone also said that on top of the million per mile, it would cost customers more to hook up to those lines as well so it'd be fees on top of that. They also mentioned asking the state/federal gov't for help on this to see if they could reduce the cost for all parties involved.
  10. No, there's none of those in Ossining. I don't think New Ro would be in the immediate area effected by Indian Point.
  11. I've been told Devil's Night a.k.a. Mischief Night is in full effect for the Detroit Fire Dept. who've been responding continiously to structure fires all night. I've heard conflicting reports of between 10 and 20 fires tonight, most of which are arson related. Be safe out there!
  12. The taconic northbound entrance ramp to the Taconic State Parkway at Routes 100/133 will be closed today/tonight. And Tuesday's complete shutdown of Route 117 between Route 448 and Route 9. And then, the big finale next week when Interstate 684 near Route 22 in Armonk and Route 35 in Katonah will be temporarily closed on Nov. 7. Filming of 'Bourne' movie to shut major local roads
  13. Yea, the rest of the closures are listed in the article.
  14. Cause of Anton's Fire Under Investigation via the Ossining-Croton Patch.
  15. Yea, that's what I meant was about 10-20 fires at once. Sorry.
  16. Can't forget about the 2 alarm for Croton last night. Given the weather conditions, that's gotta be 1 of the toughest to fight if not the toughest in a while.
  17. Man brings land mine to a Yonkers firehouse, prompting evacuation of area ^ Lohud Article
  18. Lohud was on scene and have since put up a photo gallery of the dump truck rollover at the 9/9A intersection on October 26. Dumptruck Photos - Photos were shot by Frank Becerra Jr./ The Journal News
  19. "The antiques shop owner said he told Reyes to carefully take the mine to the police station -- the 2nd Precinct is about two blocks away. But Reyes ended up at the firehouse about a half-mile away. " Some of you guys almost called it!
  20. I mean wouldn't it have made more sense to, I don't know, not touch it and call 911? Who knows if it's active or not but the last thing you should do is disturb it. Let the professionals determine if it's active or not, this is what they do for a living after all. This person potentially put the lives of so many people at risk by doing this.
  21. Canon EOS-1DX Review Review by Allan Weitz on the B&H Photo Video website.
  22. Sounds like some really good police work involved by said patrol officer. Kudos to this patrol officer as well as the White Plains police dept. and the other departments involved for apprehending the suspects even after a car/foot chase. There's also an IA posted by firedude with a full breakdown along with a few other links that I just noticed. 2 suspects in custody after chase, manhunt on Hutch
  23. I've been thinking about joining my local fire dept as a vollie but have been up in the air about it. I'd like to do it but I'd like to join as exterior. From what I've been told I have 2 choices, do Scene Ops or FF1 but not go through any of the interior? Does that make sense? I've been told Scene Ops is only offered like every 2 years or something along those lines. If I do the 2 month course of FF1, does that include every saturday or just 1 per month? This is where my dilemma comes in because I work on Saturday's and my boss wouldn't be very happy with me giving up 2 months worth of Saturdays. If I choose to wait for Scene Ops, does this mean I won't be able to go on any calls until I go through the training? Thanks in advance, your advice is greatly appreciated!
