Last weekend I took my 4 year old nephew up to check out the Somers Open House and take photos. In this spot we have a spot where people were able to get the feel of what holding a hose is like and practiced shooting water at a target. The little kid is my nephew, who thought that was so cool! The live burn was just the icing on the cake for him.
We also have the former Utility 34 and Utility 89 along with one of the helmets from the first assistant chief.

Apparently she called up the next day, after someone explained the point of the signs to her, apologizing to the station and felt like an idiot.

I thought they were joking about this when I was told this at AMLS yesterday. Lets face it, it IS the punch line to a blonde joke!

I'm still in disbelief about this. Charlie would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He was the most active emergency service worker that I knew. Those of you that know him well will vouch for that. All that we can say now is rest in peace, my friend. We'll all see you in that firehouse in the sky. Love you, good buddy.

i should have said this in my first post, but losing Chucky is striking me pretty hard. I had the privilege of being Chucky's partner for a few years on Tuesday overnight working Medic 37 prior to my deployment to Afghanistan. He was schedule to be my partner on Tuesday Medic 31 when he came back from his injury, but they were having a tough time nailing down what was actually hurting him. This is a devastating blow to not only Empress but to all of Westchester County emergency services. He was extremely involved in both EMS as well as the volunteer fire dept. I think being Chucky's partner made me a better paramedic and I sorely miss him. He always had our backs and was the best of the best. I can always remember trading story's of his PortChester jobs vs my Pearl River Jobs, nothing was ever too small for him to give his expert opinion, and he always did have the better way to do it. I wish I told him more how much I truly valued his partnership on the ambulance, as well as his friendship. While I was deployed he always made sure to check in on my wife, and include her in the Perry Ave party's he had, or just going out to the bars. I could go on forever, about him, and i could make a list a hundred miles long of things i would give up, or change just to have him back for one more second. Please keep him and his family in your prayers and hearts cause right now he's up there teaching God how to buff the big ones.
we lost one of the good ones today.
RIP my partner, my friend, and most of all my brother. Love you guy

Chucky was my unoffical nephew, he always called me uncle Ang. In his younger years he always went on vacation with my family and my oldest son Angelo [ rescue 40 here] and was a brother to him, I called him kunckle head right up till yesterday and for those that new him would know why. He was family to me, R.I.P. MY Nephew.

Yes, they canceled the game. What's your point?
There was a volatile situation with the potential for even more problems and injuries and they mitigated it by canceling the game. This is not the first time nor will it be the last time that high school sports is impacted by the actions of some troublemakers.
Hopefully they allow the game to be played at a later date with no fans or fanfare at a neutral site. Just the players, coaches, and refs so the game can be played by those who were not involved and enjoy their sport. This has been done before and will probably continue to be done when problems like this arise.

This drill is in its 8th year---FDNY has set the standard as to what IT wants for ANY mutual aid form ANY department. FDNY has desiginiated Westchester departments to cover the BRONX nothing more. Yonkers Raceway is the stageing area. OFPC with the help of WCDES Field Com checks the TRAINING RECORDS participents to make sure they meet the standard that FDNY has set. then they are given assigements and are escorted into the city.
Todays drill went off smoothly with the help of OEM and OFPC.
Citi Field is another staging area that uses Long Island companies that will cover Queens.
Is is my understanding that a third staging area is being developed on Staten Island for Coverage from NJ units. ALL participents must meet the FDNY standard.
