  12. seth i believe the old one is a 1969, or 1970's gmc 4wd. Last time i saw it out was over the summer, had a job in the backcountry and one of the engines got stuck on the lawn, they used the mini attacks winch to get it out. that thing was sweet looking. I think it might have had locking differentials?
  13. It's too bad to see this happening. Allingtown FD runs as first responders for medical calls in the district. Who would come in? AMR, Center Dist? They have a very diverse district, residental, commercial buildings, and even a college to cover for.
  14. why the two intakes on the front?
  15. I got a letter from NYPD recruitment two days ago, inviting me to a seminar in Nov. The letter also stated that they were hiring for Jan 2009. After reading the post, I'm not sure what to believe
  16. I believe engine 157 is first due to NY calls , and eng 158 is first due to CT calls. Not sure what they are going to do with the ladder, however i have seen it out on plenty of calls and drills. Now Greenwich station 8, staffed with 3ff's and 1 LT is just down the road from Banksville. They always seem to get a rig out the door no matter what time it is.
  17. I have seen a few departments in CT start to carry gemtor's on their ladders instead of ladder belts. In my dept we carry ladder belts. I have a gemtor and use that instead of the ladder belt, and was trained on it by fireground tech
  18. Something needs to be done, before anything else happens. It doesn't make sense to me why they wouldn't just give it all up and let SFRD take over it's a little too late for "plan b". PCFD Didn't rural metro have a house fire about 10 years ago, that Greenwich had to go in for mutual aide? Also were there any similarities between the current situation in Stamford and the one that went on between rye brook and port chester?
  19. With Fire Prevention Week getting closer I was wondering what departments do for an open house? I have heard of dept's doing hands on demonstrations, ( extrication's, and simulated kitchen fires). Is delivering simple fire safety messages to your residences better than showing them what their tax dollars pay for? Would it be more beneficial to the people attending open house to learn how to change their batteries instead of watching firemen climb ladders? Also, has anyone heard of having a recruitment, and or donation table there?
  20. Chris- Happy Birthday Hope youre feeling better havent heard from you in a while. Take care don't party too hard
  21. You already know its wrong before you get in the car and drive drunk!
  22. I know there was a discussion about the sale of the X-engine 158, and it was closed. A friend of mine saw this truck at a show not too long ago, and had found pictures of what it looks like now, thought I'de share them http://www.coachmenrodandcustom.com/2008Ta...ow/TLR_0065.JPG
  23. Not sure, Theres a few shows in the fall that are pretty good for b-model sitings. Kent CT is usually in the fall and Shelton dairy is pretty good
