the have the departments on the soud shore cover thamselves for voulenteer fd's manpower is an issue so what you are preposing would not work to its full potentialI really think Westchester county needs a water rescue team for the sound shore, calling on Yorktown or somers is ridiculous. I can think of at least 6 water related deaths in the past 6 years just in mamaroneck alone.

Does this IBM facility have a fire brigade with any apparatus? I know that Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill facilities still have apparatus. Thanks!
Last I knew it did
yes it does and it was a great drill to participate in

you got to look at it from your old BFD stand pointK, ill bite. I like your line of thinking in regards to alarm assignments and mutual-aid. Its been discussed time and time again on here and its a shame that it hasn't gone anywhere.
But in your post that i have quoted, i must disagree. It seems as though you're going off of City responses with your numbers for MVAs and such. Many Volunteer FDs dont even have a Ladder. So why do you think all Vol FD's should respond with 2 Engines and a Truck to MVAs?
My vol FD is fortunate enough to have 3 Engines, 2 Trucks and a Heavy Rescue that respond out of 2 stations. For an MVA, our Rescue is 1st Due out of our Station 1. An Engine would be 2nd due and sometimes we respond with 2 Engines. Many times, the IC will turn one of the Engines around, depending on the need. We NEVER send a Truck on an MVA, but thats our response.
Then to say any call at a 5+ story building should get 3 and 2? As i said, some Vol FDs dont have 1 Truck, let alone 2. Many vol FDs dont have 3 Engines either. So are you suggesting mutual-aid for these responses?

Yes the camera was provide by the va police used in case a patient goes missing

After reading an article on how there's a total of 4 female fire chiefs in the state of Connecticut, it got me thinking about how people feel about being in a department (career or volly) with the chief or an officer being a female.
Does this present an issue and cause problems or do you not care what sex the officer/chief is?
Do you feel like you have to watch how you act/what you say when on the job?
Also does anybody know how many female chiefs there are in NY, if any?
No disrespect meant to anyone here, just curious to see people thoughts.
verplanck has its first female chief

There's a lot of truth to what they tell probies as they come through the door, "if they're breaking your balls kid, it's cause they like ya".
you know what thats what they told me i get my balls busted and so do they but we know where the line is and ththats all i have to say other than the traditions of the past are lost

In addition, Montrose and Montrose VAFD run dual response to the NYS Veterans Home.
with the VAFD buchanan usually sends a rig to their quartes for standby if needed

incorrect. The Boces campus is split with 1 or 2 buildings falling in the Yorktown District, the rest falling into Somers' district.
thank you for the correction

What will it be designated as?
i am also intrested in its designation

if im correct sommers and yorktown for the boces campus

Of course the hazards are the same, but the situation will dictate the way you work.if you have high heat, smoke banked low you be on all 4's. If not you can probably stand, again the situation will dictate. Being taught to stay low as a probie make great sense though. Its easy to walk through a building, but when you need to be down, you have to kow how to do it,best way to go about that is to bang it in your head early.
just my .2 cents.
true but if there is heat and smoke some firefighters using the TIC still stand up in that hazardous envionment i reacall reading an artical about this issue in a magazine

These are the automatic mutual aid/dual responses that I'm familiar with:
Pelham/Pelham Manor/Mount Vernon, Mamaroneck Town/Mamaroneck Village, Mamaroneck Town/Larchmont, Purchase/West Harrison, Croton Falls/Somers, Yorktown/Bedford Hills, Ossining/Millwood, Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow/Irvington, Valhalla/Hawthorne, Purchase/Armonk/Port Chester, Pocantico Hills/Archville and Briarcliff/Millwood
Verplanck/Montrose/Buchanan run automatic standby mutual aid
with the trivillage (Buchanan/Montrose/Verplanck)if one has even a chimney fire trivillage is activated but FAST for buchanan or verplanck is usually peekskill (R134) and for montrose Fast is croton (E119) but buchanan does do alot of mutal aide calls with its cascade (U12)

as a probie iam taught to stay low in a fire situtaion but ive seen that people in the same situation stand up while using the thermal imaging camera arent the same hazards there with and without the camera
