  2. http://www.ferrarafire.com/CustomerSupport/InProduction/InProduction.html Yonkers in production
  3. Rest Easy Tony !!
  4. It's a combination of things. The spike without a doubt began with the first big explosion a couple of years ago down the city when that was all there was on the news. The average citizen called if their neighbor farted. Then Con Ed changed their protocol, they were not taking anymore chances. If someone calls , they send everybody. Add the road work being done. In preparation they have a guy in the field checking curbs ahead of the blacktop guys. They are finding them as they go. And , then you'll always have the slumlords that replace crappy appliances with ones even worse.
  5. Yonkers up over 19000, up 3000 from last year.
  6. Sometimes they can be stubborn. I recently had a similar incident where it kept up. Dry Chem is the way to go, but if it doesnt hit the source it wont knock it out. Fuel lines that are running through the chassis and are damaged can conceal the fire. as additional gas drops down it will relight. Someone needs to get low and look for that spot and aim the dry chem up into the chassis. Deflecting under works to knock it down but wont get it 100% .
  7. Apparatus Field Inspection (Building Inspection )
  8. There is also a spec going out for a 102' Ferrara Inferno rear mount that will be used to replace Ladder 74 .

  10. Thanks to "Do it yourself" outlets like Home Depot,Lowes etc. , you should expect a rise in gas as well as CO mishaps. They have dumbed down the plumbing trade so much , any shmoe can try his luck at gas piping. They are now selling gas flex over the counter so long as the customer bullsh*ts about their competency.
  11. He gives new meaning to the term "hood", or should i say "hoodie"
  12. No talk on next class yet. Yonkers just hired 50 which graduated in Dec. on top of 30 that graduated in June. They reached the mid 50s off of the new list to fill the last class.
  13. Ok , I'll bite since this is not a condolence thread. This was a link to a despicable article by the Journal news released at a time when friends and coworkers still had not either heard the news or the unfortunate details. To read them in the second sentence of the article was numbing to say the least, AND WAS NOT NECESSARY ! When was the last time you saw the details of a suicide of someone other than a hollywood celebrity. And far as me knowing what goes on in "westchester" , it probably isn't much. As far as Yonkers though, born and raised and have worked on the Yfd for the last 23 years. I might know a little something .
  14. No , completely unnecessary , and more than likely agenda driven. When was the last time the Journal Snooze gave any details of the sort. News 12 is no better . It will not be forgotten. Rest Well Jef !!!!!

  16. Yonkers runs their own out of county facility.
  17. " Unless tied up attempting to clear from a previous call. " Pretty much sums up why to leave as is .
  18. I can't say it any clearer for you, the yfd responds to whatever it is dispatched to.The yfd does not weed through whatever calls it wants to.
  19. The calls come in to Yonkers dispatch and are sorted out there. A sprained ankle or simple transport will not bring out YFD unless it it is a lift assist. An assault or suspicious injury will also be left to the police side. An unconscious or person down normally will bring all three entities. I can't tell you who does the monitoring of the calls, but I believe it is handled on the police side of dispatch along with Empress. Where is Mason ????
  20. you're right ,what do i know p.s its 55 miles door to door if you must know.
  21. 1) No-one receives stipend unless they are certified. 2)Yfd does not respond to any police related calls. All calls come in and are screened as to who to send. You can only respond to the calls you are dispatched to. Involved in that 46 % were 84 incidents where YFD used the defib to shock. 3) The union offered arbitration back in Sept..When the city lost confidence ,they put off the arbitration, not 628 . 4)The mayor has no valid points and is making up **** as he goes. He does not support the YFD , actions speak louder than words. If hiring 25 when your short 50 is a large class, OK . The Mayor also states ot has been abused for the last 5 years, hmmm, pretty much when the last Mayor slashed all ranks with demotions and layoffs and filled the the spots with ot . 5)manning clause, yes pretty unique and well thought out and apparently well worded.
