If the green "like" box or rep box under our names on the sides of posts.was back, it'd be a great feature. It's nice that the likes count as rep points did, would just like to see the box back, and that'd be perfect. Thats my opinion.

What you are looking at is the called the dog box or as others refer to it the dog house. Some of us are very fond of that old setup.

The above photo I found interesting when I saw it in the ladder, it has the engine right to the right of the seat, and then a small seat "packed" in there... I have never seen that before in a ladder. Very interesting...

The vBulletin app won't work with this forum (correctly).
There will be a IPhone and Android app available later this spring.
Right now, if you visit EMTBravo from any cell phone web browser, there is a basic mobile app to view the site.

x4093k liked a post in a topic by mllax14 in Injured Firefighter needs our help
Alright guys,
As some of you may or may not know on February 24th, 7 PGFD Firefighters were injured while operating at a house fire In Riverdale, Maryland that has since been declared arson. Of those 7 injured, 2 were admitted to the Burn Unit at Washington Hospital Center with serious burns, Bladensburg Co.9 FF's Ethan Sorrell had respiratory burns and has since been released and FF Kevin O'Toole who is still currently recovering in the Hospital with burns over 40% of his body. I personally know both of these guys and was at the fire the night they were both injured and can honestly say they are two of the strongest people i know. Kevin has had multiple skin graph operations and has made great strides in the past few weeks enough so to be admitted in the step down unit from the ICU. With being said Kevin still has a long road to recovery.
So here is what he needs Kevin (A Native of New York, from Bethpage, Long Island) as you can imagine spends alot of time in his hospital room. Although his family and at least two firefighters from either Company 9 or Company 1 have been at his side 24 hours a day he would like to make his room feel a little more like home. So he is asking that any of those following his recovery could send him a company or department patch to liven up the room a little bit.
Any departments wising to send a patch and or a card to Kevin they are to be sent to 4213 Edmonston Road, Bladensburg MD 20710 and they will be sure to find a place on his wall.
I will be home this week for a few days if you would like to PM me i may be available to pick up the patch if that makes things easier before i head back to Maryland.
Here are a few of the news articles incase you have no idea what im talking about to bring you up to speed.

Again Thank you guys for your support and we hope to see a few patches on the wall to show Kev some love from New York.
Thank You,

Only thing I don't like is reputation is gone, I liked that feature a lot and I believe others did also. When you say " normal" does that mean back to the same layout as the old one?

Exactly. I was a little bumped off track when I saw the title of this, females, males, whoever can do it, can do it. Simple as that. Armonk FD has a wonderful chief, and I am sure in the upcoming years we will see more and more appear, well, at least I hope so.

If you can do the job and do the job well...sex, race, etc does not matter. Best person for the job should have it.

Nope- it was Dead Dog Saloon. Drunken Jack's is hiring some of the staff from the place- along with all the other restaurants are taking all staff who will be unemployed in with them until June when they plan to reopen.

Effective streams vs. non-effective streams. There is a lot of good learning here in this video. Too bad we didn't find it six years ago when it was first posted on youtube. I love looking at good vids and making them into training material
First off, it still amazes me that we as firefighters still pull 1 3/4" lines when we see that much fire. The first lines off the first due engine were both matties (see 2:50 mark in video). Granted I'll have critic say "well we only have XXX gallons of water" but with that much fire and heat, and the really bad exposure problem (I hate developments like this), go right for blitz attack. Practically all modern pumper shave deck / stang guns, use them! We all have big 2 1/2" lines, use them! The minimum diameter line that should be pulled off first should be at least a 2" hose line. Remember this equation: Big Fire = Big Water, GPM battles BTUs.
I think though the tactics were good, one line right to the B side exposure (white hose) as you can see the siding melted off in the video. All these homes are the same construction (cracker boxes in my opinion) and the focus on the exposure problem. I can't tell where the blue line goes except for some place on the D-side.
The tower bucket crew did good work hitting the center of the fire was and worked its way around. Looking at their rig on the dept's website, they have dual monitors (a big plus on TLs in my book). The only utilized one, the smoothbore. More than likely they they didn't have enough water but this would have been ideal to use the adjustable stream on this fire. More than likely getting the smoothbore in operations was priority due to the amount of fire, still a good call. Just think if they had enough water to operate both guns, the fire would have gone out quicker. A pumper with a two-stage pump set in volume would have helped supplied but again if their isn't enough water, you have to do whatever it takes.
Again overall from what we see on the vid, the crews did a hell of an effort and the ICs appeared to have made good calls protecting the crews.

x4093k liked a post in a topic by Nickcv41 in Busting Chops: Where's The Line?
Being a volunteer firefighter with only 4 years I have been the victim of a lot of ball busting. It is alright to kid around with people. But I feel there is a very fine and thin line between kidding around and just offending people. For example I feel it is alright to joke around with the way a guy might look, dress or act. But it is just wrong once you start offending the person's personal life, and certain things that are out of control. Also busting chops doesn't work on everyone. In firehouses there are unwritten rules that you know who you can mess around with and who you can't. If your a younger guy you really can't bust a senior man's chops, that's for the other senior men to do. Some people can take all the chop busting in the world, and some people can't take any of it. It all depends on what person you come across, or what kind of mood they are in that day
