x4093k liked a post in a topic by helicopper in Rye considers change to fire department structure
Very well said.
I'll say this about the direction this thread went and it has nothing to do with the Rye issue - attacking an advocate because his viewpoint differs from your own is both immature and unprofessional. I have enjoyed reading a lot of threads in which differing viewpoints have been offered and bnechis has always been a strong advocate of the fire service. I don't qualify that with volunteer or career because I believe he is truly an advocate for simply doing it right. Doing it right has nothing to do with pay status.
Just because he doesn't look at things with rose colored glasses and calls things as he sees them doesn't make him wrong.
As I've said countless times feel free to debate the issues but don't attack those with different perspectives than your own.
Carry on...

I am vacationing in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina ( approximately 10 miles south of Myrtle Beach) and a different engine is outside of this firehouse is Garden City daily. I could not find what engine number this is, but it seems in good shape for the age it is. I believe it is still in service, although engine and ladders were responding right past it from the other bay doors every so often.
This is the only photo I have of it, but I plan on photographing other stations apparatus throughout the week.

BREAKING NEWS: Body found in search for missing Florida firefighter
Breaking news in the search for a Florida firefighter, who drove to Maine and then disappeared.
State Police say a body has been discovered in woods off the Dahlia Farm Road in Newburg. The State Medical Examiner's Office has just arrived at the scene. Officials say the discovery came shortly after a search began this morning in the continuing investigation into the disappearance and homicide of Jerry Perdomo. An affidavit released in the case shows that Perdomo traveled to Maine to collect a debt, and his alleged killer threatened him with a machine gun. The prime suspect in Perdomo's death, 24-year-old Daniel Porter, is scheduled to make his first appearance before a judge on Thursday. Perdomo, who lived in Florida with his wife, Tonya, was reported missing February 16. A news conference is scheduled for this afternoon in the town of Monroe. We will continue to update the story as new information becomes available.

I don't think there is much of a savings.... Could be wrong, but even with 4x4 out of the picture you still have the suspension lowering so I'd think they would about equal.
