  1. Yes, Port is every year. Believe it is July 10 this year, but don't hold me to it. Middletown's is October 2. Florida's 125th Anniversary is June 5. Might be one more I'm forgetting. Oh well.....still a bit of time to go before they happen.
  2. For those not familiar, the show is held at Nassau Coliseum, in an exhibit hall (and surrounding hallways) adjacent to the arena floor. Admission was $12 and parking was $6-7 last year, if memory serves correctly. I'd be more concerned about the "damage" that will be done by the increased TOLLS. I want to attend, but time will tell if it happens or not.
  3. Orange Lake has County. Montgomery is having a 200th Anniversary parade on July 17. Warwick's is June 18 @ 6 PM, last I heard.
  4. They keep a bird at Randall now? Which one? Pretty sure that's been used as an LZ a time or two (and maybe a fuel stop?) but I didn't think anything was staged there full-time.
  5. No....didn't hear anything about measurements. If Garrison doesn't update their site in the next few days (they include such things among the other specs) I will see what I can find out.
  6. I would guess that's an Impel, based mainly on the lack of chrome on the grille and around the headlights. The bezels around the lights themselves are apparently an option on either model, but when it's not there altogether is usually a tip that it's Impel. That's one of the very few ways to tell them apart, short of looking at the oval badge on the door......which, in a posted photo, is kind of hard to do.
  7. OK, thanks. Let me try this again. Here (hopefully) are the two missing shots.....driver's side shot of the rig, and the grille light:
  8. I seem to be having issues with the attachments......guess my antiquated POS computer doesn't want to play nice with the new software anymore. How many pics does anyone see? Should be two in each post.
  9. A close-up shot of the ladder board, and the "custom" Ferrara grille lighting.
  10. Looks like some disappointing news for fans of our local celebrities and their show. It seems as though "American Chopper" will air it's final episode this Thursday night, including some "big news" from Paulie Jr. Choppers' show runs out of gas (link to story on Times Herald-Record Online) Ironically enough, the news comes the same day as a report that former "Chopper" cast members Vinnie and Cody will return to TV as part of a new motorcycle-oriented show called "Throttle Junkies", which premieres on Feb. 14. Vinnie and Cody back on TV
  11. I don't know why Code 3 never made a TL-75 to go along with 71. That seemed to go over quite well, as have the engines. Could do one of the old Mack 'Scopes, too, for that matter. Hmmm....... As for the real Mack, like I said in the other thread, I hope that never gets given up for scrap, or anything else "bad". If anything, send it to ITE for a refurb, or Pfahl's for a restoration, so that it can be appreciated for what it is for many years to come. Is the other one (the next to last one) still around anywhere?
  12. Not a problem there. We've got a little over 100 members on the roster, and of those, I'd say there's only about 25-30.....maybe a little more....that I'd really consider to be "active".
  13. Happy Birthday, Casey! Hope you haven't been partying "too hard" tonight. Stay safe!
  14. Catskill Fire-Cats (SPAAMFAA) members have had their own division in the City of Middletown's annual inspection parade dating back to at least the early 90's, and possibly beyond. Of course, we were never judged in the past. This year was the first time there was ever a trophy for Best Appearing Antique, and it went to a department owned piece. We have been invited to Port Jervis' parade for many years as well, but only recently have started to take them up on it. Not sure if we were judged there (in line) or not, but never heard anything afterward. Don't think we've ever been invited to the County parade. Couple of our guys own a bunch of ex-Westchester rigs, and they have a funny habit of finding their way home for their respective towns' parades.
  15. Very nice rig. Best of luck with it. Just curious as to why they chose Rescue1 instead of Sutphen's own rescue body? Interesting combination there.
  16. While I will admit that the rig in the original post (link) is one of the nicer looking examples of the Quest that I've seen thus far, I still prefer the Cyclone II. And, as was mentioned, virtually every make out there has it's "lemons" from time to time. Can't say as I've ever heard of a single type of apparatus that was universally and unanimously loved or hated.
  17. I don't recall if it was discussed here or not, but the prototype pumper was making the rounds a little over a year ago. It's a re-badged Spartan Furion chassis. I don't recall right offhand who built the body, but the whole thing was being produced and marketed by the dealer in Mass. who has the rights to the Maxim name. If you ask me, it's right up there with what HME did with the Ahrens-Fox name. Also read elsewhere last night that Ward LaFrance may be making a "comeback" as well. More of the same, perhaps?
  18. Paying $20 to keep your same plate number, and getting new ones upon the renewal of the registration is EXACTLY the same situation that was in place when the current design debuted in 2001. I just wonder what the new number/letter combos will be. Will they come up with something new, or just continue the existing pattern, picking up wherever the production of the last white plates left off?
  19. Sharp looking rig. Best of luck with it. Got any photos of the Hahn it's replacing? Don't think I've ever seen that one. I assume Marlboro is replacing their Hahn as well? That's a nice one, too. Looking forward to seeing their Ferrara finished as well.
  20. I like it. As was mentioned by another member, it looks just like Firepics now, but with different colors. Somebody mentioned issues with the quote box not appearing. That "may" have something to do with what browser you are using as well. When I view Firepics using Safari (have a Mac), everything's all one big convoluted mess. You can't easily distinguish the profile info from a quote from the body of the post. I'm now using a browser called Opera and everything looks great. Nice and organized, easy to read. The only "bug" I've noticed is that the forum jump function doesn't work on it's own. You actually have to click the "Go" button. That's just a minor peeve that I'll get used to soon enough. It's the board software itself, I think, more than an actual glitch.
  21. Yes, it was the ex-E62 1981 CF to which I was referring.
  22. Great stuff, as always. Makin' me jealous again. Can't wait to see what a future "buff" trip produces! Any Krispy Kreme presence in Chi-town? LOL!
  23. Just curious......who said the windows were actually BROKEN, and not open to begin with? Also, the rear tailgate is open. Somebody found a way in to assist with the feeding of said line? I know, probably not likely given the time constraints, but ya never know. Just my $.02.
  24. Not to mention KME, Ferrara, HME, pre-2008 Sutphen, older (or current "low-end") Spartan, etc., in terms of fire apparatus. That's a VERY common design! Definitely hard to imagine that parts (or straight-out replacements) can't be found somewhere. At least the blades are still standing straight up and parallel....and not starting to point toward each other like many a new KME seem to be doing lately. That's gotta cause problems with visibility sooner or later. As for PCFD.....maybe they can make arrangements to get their hands back on a certain Mack to use as a spare for a little while? Or maybe not.
  25. I HOPE that somebody wins Lotto (or Mega Millions) soon, and buys you guys a brand new Scope! I still get a pain in my gut when I think of the photos from a few years back of the remnants of Bethpage's Mack sitting around the grounds at Seagrave, presumably awaiting disposal to the scrap yard (it's boom was mounted on a new Spartan cab/chassis). Would be a shame to see 413 suffer a similar fate. Be much better to see it wind up with one of the local collectors and have that "Museum condition" be preserved for many years to come! Was not familiar with Pelham Manor's rig "before", so can't say as I have the same kind of attachment to it. But, the new one looks nice. Hope it serves them well for many years.
