Boy oh boy, did I learn a lesson this weekend. Next time a company has nice ASI shirts, and offers them for advance pre-order, I should TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! Wasn't able to attend the wetdown, unfortunately. Had two possible contacts who I thought might be able to pick me up a shirt. One really dropped the ball, 'cause he didn't know Cornwall from Croton, and arrived "late". However, I was told by the other source that the shirt situation was the same almost from the start. XL's were long gone "early". I am hearing various rumors through the grapevine all weekend that more "may" be ordered. Sure hope this rumor becomes a reality, because I saw said shirts today in Winona Lake, and they are just off the charts! I'd love to have one, or better yet, one of each color even.

New City (Rockland) usually has one, but I haven't checked their site yet. Couple of Orange Co. companies usually do decent ones, too. I don't get as excited about them the last couple of years, because in terms of photography, it's hit or miss. Those things are geared far more toward kids than apparatus buffs (or anyone else, for that matter).

Just wondering.......I can't be the only one who's still stuck in the "19th Century" when it comes to photography. Assuming there's anyone else out there who still shoots with 35 mm color film, where do you take it for processing? I've been using ShopRite's processing almost exclusively, with a few exceptions. The quality, overall, is quite good, and the price is hard to beat, but lately there have been a few incidents of "you get what you pay for" in terms of cropping, etc. Worse yet, went into the store the other night to find renovation in progress in the courtesy desk area. Saw the machine where you can make your own enlargements, but the drop-off box for overnight processing was nowhere to be found. Wasn't an urgent enough matter at the time to stand in line just to find out if it's still around, but I need to find out soon. In the "unfortunate" event that they have done away with it, I'm just looking for opinions on what might be a suitable substitute. Eckerd? Hannaford? Sam's Club? I still have over a dozen rolls backlogged from last year, and have lost track of what I've shot this year so far. Hate the thought of having to go to a "good" place and pay $9 or more per roll, and not even get doubles. But, as a last resort, of course I'll do it if I have to. Where does everybody else go?

Well, I went into ShopRite today. The work in that part of the store is done, and the drop box is right back where it belongs. Soooo.....looks like I'll just continue there for the time being, and if they "mess up" again, I'll take the offending prints to the 'good place' and have 'em done over there. Thanks to everyone who offered opinions. I'll keep them all in mind should the need arise again.

Port Jervis has a gray/red Pierce that is just about identical to Port Chester's. PC had theirs first, though...it's a few years older. TL2 is definitely hot...and don't forget the "new" engine.

DAAAAAAMN!!!! That thing is HUGE! Reminds me of "The Ol' 96'er" from "The Great Outdoors".

The older Pierce (E-111) went first because they were told that one could definitely be done in time for the Middletown parade, which is what they wanted. 113 has a raised roof and more stuff on it, so that would take a little longer. It will be going out within the next couple of weeks.

9/11 will be like this generation's Kennedy assassination......everyone will remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. I was at work when our upstairs tenant came down and told us that "a plane" had hit the WTC. I was thinking it was a little Cessna, or something. Once we knew what was going on, we took turns going upstairs to watch for a bit. Once the first tower fell, there wasn't much work going on for a while in our place. We were all glued to the TV. A lot of people get agitated when people say "Never Forget" and that type of thing. But, it goes without saying that nobody who was alive that day and old enough to know what was happening will ever forget it.

Over the past couple of days, I noticed that the "Edit Post" and "Quote" buttons seem to be missing. Was this a network change, or some kind of glitch, or what? I've seen others post replies with previous posts quoted in them, so apparently they're still able to do it.

A "couple" of photos have been taken by yours truly, best I could do given the "cramped" setup at the wetdown, but.....you know the rest of the story, Seth! LOL

Nah....I doubt my Apple has a worm. Maybe it's just the web browser I'm using is almost as antiquated as my camera...LOL!

That's gotta be a record.....figured the "get a dig" comment from you would have been reply #2, maybe 3 tops! LOL!

"Messed up" = The truck in the pic will appear off-center when the truck is dead-on centered in the negative. Or, in a "very" close-up shot, it will come back missing a bumper or back step when the whole rig is visible in negative. It was after experiences like that when I went to a "better" place for a little while, but for what they charge, compared to the amount of film I go through in the past few summers, it isn't very practical to use the "good" place full time.

Does Thornwood do wetdowns? That's one I'd like to see, if they do. Already a couple of others I'm looking forward to for next year.

The new Seagrave rescue pumper in Port Jervis (Orange Co.) recently seen in Spy Shots on here....that was rumored to have cost somewhere in the $650k range, and is said to be the most expensive pumper Seagrave has ever built. Quite scary, considering a mere nine years ago, a Pierce tower ladder cost about that much. For that kind of price tag, I'd say they'll have themselves one nice piece when it's done.

Eckerd does it on premises? Hmm....did not know that. ShopRite (and probably most of the others I mentioned above) send it out to someplace. Maybe all to the same place, I have no idea. Past experiences with one-hour places have proven that the results are only as good as the person on duty at the machine that day. If they had one full-timer whose job was just to process pics, that'd be a good thing.

They really stick out! There are quite a few "unusual" combo's that look very nice. Whether they are "appropriate" for fire apparatus is another debate for another thread, but they make for some very sharp looking trucks regardless. Black over red with a bunch of gold leaf, and shiny polished aluminum wheels. Can't go wrong there. All red with similar "dressing" is hard to beat, too.

I think they do, but I've never tried them. Not sure if this is a rumor, or fact, but somebody once told me you have to pay extra there just to get glossy prints.

Gonna save my "pennies" over the winter. Maybe I can work a miracle and join the fun next year. Sure would be nice.

No photos yet, unfortunately. They were too busy inspecting and training over the weekend to make anything happen (and the weather sucked, anyway).

Great pics, as usual. Sounds like you had an awesome time. I am eternally jealous, "as usual"...LOL! Would those big wreckers (uhh....I mean "Heavy Rescues") in LA not also be used in the event of an apparatus having a mechanical breakdown, or, God forbid, an MVA? I assumed that's what they were for in the first place. Good to know they perform other duties as well. BTW....the menu at In-N-Out looks a tad, uh, "basic" compared to larger places. Just my opinion.
