Good god who was the brain trust that agreed to this.. So at 9 am, Croton FD gets dispatched to a working structure fire on Teatown Road, in our outer district which we have to go on route 9 into Ossining to get to... Or A Mutual aid call with the Tanker to Millwood's or Yorktowns outer area... how do we get there ???
Quaker Bridge is not rated for all but one Croton rig, and the Croton Dam is still closed to all traffic... Oh sorry Mrs. Jones, it took use 45 minutes to get there because the roads were shut down for a road race...
I hope the PD agencies or who every is planning this out have a plan to get emergency equipment through there if needed, because as of tonight, CFD knows nothing, great inter agency work here...

When we were out at Seagrave doing the final inspection on our Tanker, they were working on the P'ville Ladder and according to the guys doing the work, the thing was working like a champ, and drove perfectly. I have to admit it was wierd being so far from home and seeing local rigs...

Our engine 119 has a Detriot in it, but our new T 10 has a Cummins.... just from the test drive of the tanker at the plant, I like the Cummins better... But once we have it in house I will be able to comment more... I think in the end, it will be like some like Fords, some like Chevy.

hey 4093, that was a great MA call... we got to bunk with some good guys, had our choice of maybe 75 couches and got to run out on a call in over night hours...
One tanker is enough.... although I LOVED that old girl, the new one will be used well...

actually Croton is keeping the old tanker, but the FD will not be using her... The cab and frame will be cleared of the FD body and the DPW will be installing a swap lift system to it so that it can be used as a dump truck, dumpster truck or what ever they need.
Originally the DPW wa putting in for a new truck, so when the issue of the Village getting a new tanker came up, the DPW pulled the new truck for our old cab and chassis. Personally I think it was a great idea, as what we would get $ 5,000 like we got for the old E119...

Sorry I can't show you. It will break the photo policy. The photo was taken in 1948 6 years before I was born. The man who took the photo is dead and can not say that I have his permission to use it even that I have. His family gave me all of his work because they knew I would take care of them. I have hundreds of these but will not be able to share anymore.

The county's Rescue Team has a division of water rescue tech's and are willing to go anywhere... One of the nice features of the County team is that it is made up of many different members from departments around Westchester ( fire and EMS ). So like last year in Ossining, 4 minutes after the team was dispatched 2 members of the team were on the scene and assisted Ossining in starting the rescue...
Yes it would be great to have certain departments organized special teams, but the cost, manpower needs and time requirements adds on members... In my eyes the County's Team is a step in the right direction.
