  1. ALWAYS remember the most important rule when you get to work: GO HOME IN THE CONDITION YOU WENT TO WORK IN. I don't pretend to know every department's policy, but I would assume that almost all of them have protocols stating that weapons are not to be carried on duty. I don't know about you but I would rather make it home at the end of the night and have to worry about the breaking of a department rule then end up in the hospital because the 'Psychological First Aid' and Verbal Judo route didn't work. Again, I AM NOT ADVOCATING THE CARRYING OF A WEAPON IN VIOLATION OF YOUR DEPARTMENT'S RULES AND REGULATIONS.
  2. Pronouncing in the field only became more popular once Westchester broke off of the Hudson Valley REMAC, HVREMAC protocols stated for the most part that all worked codes were to be transported.
  3. It happened sometime around 1830 yesterday.
  4. Exactly. There is no reason why there needs to be so much on a splash page. Just provide links to the different features instead of showing all of them.
  5. Well, no one can ever say they didn't hear ya!
  6. Didn't know Ford and GM merged.
  7. Every NYPD ESU member is at least an EMT, while quite a few are paramedics, nurses, PAs and even doctors.
  8. There hasn't ben a T unit since about 2001, IIRC.
  9. I saw it at Station 3 this morning, dunno about it being in service though...
  10. Godspeed and rest in peace.
  11. About time, how old is the current one, 20 years old?
  12. As a police officer and paramedic, I have to disagree with you. the definition of burglary is the unlawful entering of a building to commit a crime within it is a property crime for the most part. Robbery is defined as the forceful taking of possessions from a person. The wallet was not on his person, it was in a building. By definition is DEFINITELY a burglary, NOT a robbery. There was absolutely no use of force.
  13. It's a small point, but that's a burglary, not a robbery.
  14. 99 percent of the time the Explorers are supervisors vehicles, they are almost never assigned to a patrol unit, so it may be a boss related issue.
  15. You must buy it privately. Depending on your department's rules and regs you can either buy the yellow one or the blue one.
  16. Any particular reason that FDMV held a EMT and not a CFR course?
  17. Somethings telling me that they aren't going to be 'new' officers, but will in fact be transfers from other departments. The WC Police Academy probably does not have the ability to add 20 people to the class roster this late in the game, seeing as though the academy starts in 2 weeks.
  18. Its people that live by the book that kill the joy that any of us gets from going to work.
  19. If you truly don't feel as though you can adequately contain the EDP, then ask PD for an escort, they are usually more than happy to assist. If you don't feel comfortable and PD is not available, then use triangular bandages to tie the truly psychotic patient to the stretcher and do NOT undo them until you have transported to the hospital. You need only add one line to the report; "I restrained the patient to the stretcher using triangle bandages as restraints on all four extremities for my safety and patient safety." I believe some people are of the mindset that you can't do something like this without PD approval and this is one hundred percent not true.
  20. I've been working the Central and South Bronx for 9 years and I've never heard of someone getting hurt because of a patient attacking them, what was the need to continue a totally untrue stereotype?
  21. For something like a 53Pin PD sends the same info to both SPRINT and StarFire at the same time, the only dispatch that is delayed is the EMS portion, since they gather more info on the call itself, however they also get sent the same info electronically at the same time the PD call taker routes FD.
  22. They do when NYCHA can't or will take too long.
  23. The colors of lightbars would come under state jurisdiction, as do all vehicle and traffic regulations...
