  13. My dept., Walden (Orange), we have an cold water rescue team. All our equipment is stored on our ladder truck, mostly due to the available room and equipment already one it to assist in the rescue. Protocol is for the first 2 cert. guys 2 get to the fire house start to suit up and throw at least 1 bag of PFDs and helmets in the cab. If the guys arent finished suitin up when the trucks ready theres enough room in it to finish. Also as soon as our first unit arrives on scene and confirms there are people in the water M/A goes out for our back-up team, our neighboring dept. Montgomery, to respond with thier team and boat.

  15. Here in Orange County the OC Firemens Field Day is held every year @ OC park in Hamptonburgh(Campbell Hall FD). Usually held in Aug. Attenance has been down lately. last year i beileve they only had like 12 teams(5 man teams) with a few depts puttin in a few teams. Alot of food n drinks 2 go round. They give awards out after, they also have a tail gate award, n horse shoe comp. I've participated in it for a few years now, I think its great. Last year it fell on the same day as one of our softball league games. The Dept. we were playing was also participating in the field day so we moved our game there and played on the upper softball field. I engourage any one who would like to do something like this to do so its a great moral booster, and a great way for the guys 2 mingle, a lil friendly competition is always good 2.

  17. The Sutphen East plant in White Lake is just outside of Monticello, They mainly build apparatus on commercial chassis, but they handle most repairs for the East Coast. In 1996 my FD (Walden, OC) our 1980 Sutphen engine was totally refurbed at the Sutphen East Plant, that encluded enclosing the cab, a totally new body, and a few other little details. Most of Sutphen's production is done out of thier Ohio plants. 18. Here in Walden, OC, we have 1 chief, car-1, and 3 Assts. cars 2-4. We only operate 1 district owned chiefs vehicle, car-1 gets it unless hes not available, where he can pass it on to car-2, 3, or 4 who all run private vehicles w/ lights n sirens. Also i kno Coldenham has 4 chiefs vehicles, cars 1-3, and DC-1. DC-1 is also OC-12 and uses the vehicle for all his deputy coordinator duties as well. Their Saftey-1's official name is Asst. Chief of Saftey and also has red lights and sirens on his vehicle. He's gunna most likely end up with a district vehicle next time they buy one.
