  1. There is one thing that grabbed me about this video. It demonstrates something that is talked about a lot. Tower Ladders are F'IN SLOW! Something to note and consider when there is one assigned. They're a little more complicated to set-up and move a lot slower once in operation. With a rear-mount, both out-riggers are down and the stick can be put to the roof in well under a minutes. The TL, for all it's pluses, is slow!

The old Mack 75' single axle TL's went up pretty quick.

  2. Had a fire years ago, same situation ( actually same street a block or 2 north), two frames, heavy fire between both. 1st engine strecthed into buidling on left. As 2nd due we stretched 2 1/2 to knock down fire between buildings. Fire did extend into both buildings but the main body of fire was between the buildings. It took a while to knock the fire down because it was front to back and top to bottom in the alley. Lines in the building will control the extension but the fire in between will kept burning unless addressed. The sooner the better. The 3rd line covered the building on the right. Depending on the situation, amount of fire, rescue, ladder Co. placement, etc, lining up the deck pipe with the alley and dropping the booster is a good move. Did that at a fire also with good success. JMO

  3. It was also a 4th Alarm the night of July 4th.

Sorry guys, nothing else to report, slept right through this one.

The 4th Alarm on July 4th was not in this building. That one was @ Jerome and the Cross Bronx Expresssway. This taxpayer had 2-3 alarm fires the first week of August. The first one was a good stop with handlines. The 2ndfire - lines and towers. The last one forgetaboutit.
