  1. This is actually why thier should be 2 police officers in a car AT ALL TIMES, and I don't want to hear you people complain about the money. SAFETY OF THE OFFICERS IS PRICELESS.
  2. For the fiscal year 2011-2012 the WPFD is budgeted for 161 man job (what a dam shame, not enough at 171 and now 10 less, thats another conversation) but they are currently short of that due to the economy. YEAH RIGHT, THE ECONOMY, WP JUST BROUGHT IN OVER 50 MILLION DOLLARS, YES 50 MILLION DOLLARS IN SALES TAX. BUT STILL COMPANY CLOSURES DUE TO A LACK OF MANPOWER, WHAT A JOKE.
  3. NO TAXES = NO SERVICES TOTALLY AGAINST ANY TAX CAP ON THE STATE, COUNTY, OR LOCAL LEVEL. COME ON LABOR WAKE UP, WHAT GOOD IS IT IF THEY CAN ONLY RAISE TAXES 2%, IF YOU JUST GOT LAID OFF BECAUSE THEY CAN ONLY RAISE TAXES 2%.
  4. Date: 4/24/11 Time: aprx 2:30 am Location: 107 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains Frequency: Units Operating: PD, FD, and EMS Weather Conditions: rain/fog Description Of Incident: 2 people shot in club during dispute Reporters: tglass59 Writer: tglass59
  5. NIST.....NFPA.......the seattle study, and any other proactive fire service report, will tell you that a 4 man crew consisting of an officer, a driver, and 2 firefighters is a bare minimum to an effective fire company doing their job safely and effectively.
  6. I CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH...... A SOCIAL CLUB.
  7. It's a court order. a hundred years ago local 274 took the vollies to court, and the best possible deal we could get was 1% of the 2% money. the president at that time took the best deal he could, better to get 1/2 the money than nothing at all. we talk about another law suit to get the whole 2%, but with all the current litigation against the city, money is tight, unlike the city we can't increase taxes to fight the unions in the city. ha ha ha .hopefully in the future we can go back to court and get what is ours, the money to the people who provide the fire protection.
  8. the 2% money is based on how many firefighters we have when the city hands it out. its a % based on how many the social club have (the vollies) and the WPFD have.
  9. The WPFD vollie's do absolutely nothing but take 1% of the 2% money the city gets. it's a disgrace to even call the vollie's since they do nothing. All the 2% money the city gets should go to the real firefighters of the city, they use that money for their eyeglass and dental, which is ran by the union, and every penny can be accounted for. the vollies throw parties which was investigated years ago by the reporter dispatch. I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH THEY ARE A DISGRACE. They provide NO SUPPORT, they do NOTHING, but rob money. To call them volunteer firefighters is a disgrace. They should be called a social club. on a day to day basis, not sure but i know one thing........ HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF WHITE PLAINS
  10. Looking for information regarding NY state law on fire department station uniforms. I know about NFPA 1975 but since NY is an OSHA state was wondering if NY has anything on the books regarding this issue. Please only facts no opinions. THANKS
  11. That rig clearly says squad 4 "support unit". its used as a light truck, RAC, and spare rescue.
  12. The Squad will roll on confirmed Haz Mat and WMD calls. And no, the Rescue roll's on gas leaks with an Engine Co.
  13. Squad 4 is stationed at WPFD's station 2 on Ferris avenue, quarter's of E66 and TL6. The squad is not a staffed company, when needed the men of E66 and TL6 will pit it in use, every FF stationed at 2 are trained in Haz Mat and WMD.
  14. THATS RIGHT, TELL EM DOC
  15. WHITE PLAINS ALSO RUNS ITS OWN IF ITS A BIG ENOUGH CLASS
  16. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. THE WHITE PLAINS CHIEF MADE A GREAT CALL, PER OUR SOG FOR A MVA ANYWHERE IN THE CITY, THE RESCUE AND AN ENGINE ARE DISPATCHED, HOWEVER ON THIS RUN IT WAS AN MVA WITH A CONFIRMED CAR FIRE, OUR SOG CALLS FOR AN ENGINE AND A TRUCK ON VEHICLE FIRES. I AGREE THAT AN ENGINE, A TRUCK AND THE RESCUE SHOULD ROLL AN ALL MVA'S, NUMBER ONE REASON IS OUR SAFETY BOTTOM LINE, AND THE NUMBER TWO REASON IS MANPOWER.
  18. AS A TAXPAYER A HOMEOWNER A HUSBAND AND A FATHER, I DO'T CARE WHO SHOWS UP PAID OR VOLUNTEER EMS AS LONG AS THEY GET THERE FAST. THAT FIVE MINUTE WINDOW THEY TALK ABOUT, HOPEFULLY THERE ON THERE WAY TO MY HOUSE IN FIVE MINUTES. FIRE, POLICE, AND EMS SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY REGARD OF CAREER OR VOLLIE, ITS ABOUT GETTING THERE IN A TIMELY MANNER AND PROVIDING A SERVICE.
