  1. I loved the part when the fire fighter says that was a dumb thing to do and then walks in while the couch is still burning.
  2. I see, but not ever state has this same policy and just a tatoo of the words of a DNR are not enough to envoke a DNR.
  3. I consulted one of my friends who is a lawyer and he said that a in order for the DNR to be accepted in court and be legal in needs to be signed by the person it is intended for, a third party and it needs to be notarized. From what I know about DNR's which is not much, a copy needs to be shown to the person treating the patient. Therefore no tatoo or anything can be used as a replacement. So it seems while the DNR tatoo is a good idea, it is not legally binding nor can it be admissable in court.
  4. I think some illness will not do the trick... something more trastic should unfourtantly happen to them
  5. Now what those bikers are doing is the best thing that has come out of this terrible situation that the woman and her church have created. Those bikers should be thanked and they are totally right and patriotic
  6. Sure why not... I could stand to learn a little about other public services other then firefighting, EMS and PD but just be careful because this forum is EMTBRAVO not public services bravo just think about what might happen is all that I say
  7. Let me first say that this woman and her organization are sick and have no right to be Americans. In America today we have the freedom of speech, this freedom was insured to us by our founding fathers. While will let this ignorant, hate filled rate by some in-bred Iowan hick be heard, I with 100% despise this women and everything that see stands for. This woman and her "church" is protesting the funerals of men and women who die for our nation. This action is un-moral, unjust and unthinkable. She is protesting her own freedom. This woman and her organization and ideals are an insult to religion, America, humans and god itself I may not totally agree with the war in Iraq but I will morn the loss of every soldier and thank every veteran that I meet. This little rant my not make any sence but it is the best i could do given the fact that i just listened to a few minutes of fate filled rant by a crazy woman. I will fix this when i can think again Thank you for bring this to my attention and if you get this far to my little rant
  8. LMAO is all i have to say
  9. I just watched the opening segment of the show and im not going to lie. I started to cry based on how touching it was. God Bless Jimmyboy, God Bless the Arean Family, God Bless the Fire Fighting service and God Bless America. Rest In Peace Jimmyboy
  10. If you need a leatherman, the Wave is the best one out there. It is small, light-weight, strongly built and has all of the tools that one would need. However as for fire department use...it is not practical for use in an emergency setting because it can not be used one handed. Thus, you should get a single bladed knife that can be used one handed. In my turn-out both me and my dad have a Columbia River Knife called the Mo'Skeeter. Here is a description I found on the internet: Columbia River Model 6422 Mo'Skeeter. The Mo'Skeeter is a lock back design. The one piece handle is made out of molded Zytel for sure grip. AUS 6M stainless steel blade pivots on Teflon bearings with dual thumb studs. It is equipped with removable Teflon plated pocket clip. AUS 6M stainless steel blade hardened to 55-57HRC, Blade length: 2.75", Closed length: 3.75", Weight: 2.1 oz. $24.99 Here is the website link: http://www.knifeworks.com/index.aspPageAct...ROD&ProdID=1538 This is a smaller more compact blade that is really cheap and can be painless to replace. If you really need a leatherman type multi-tool then get the rescue multi-tool from the Galls website. Galls® Rescue Tool This incredible tool was created especially for firefighters and EMS! Convenient folding design includes the most versatile, essential tools for your job in a lightweight, compact unit. Stainless steel. 9"L open, 6.9"L closed -Hammer -Window punch -Spanner wrench -Oxygen tank opener -Gas shut-off wrench -Seatbelt cutter -Straight blade -Foldout bottle opener -Saw style blade -Twelve assorted bits w/ holder -Nylon holster Here is the link for the Galls multi-tool: http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=gen...=FE389&cat=2938 My father has it and has used it several times and it is by far the best rescue tool that my father or I have ever used.
  11. I think i will get a sticker and a t-shirt to honor a fellow firefighters spirt and show that I will remember and honor Kevin Apuzzio.
  12. Its a real shame that you guys are getting rid of engine 119. I hope that the new seagrave will be just as good (if not better). Also, lets hope that a company in county will buy the engine. It would be a shame if this rig left Westchester due to the fact that this engine has served Westchester for 20+ years.
  13. Are there any up comimg wetdowns in Westchester County. I know that Bedford Village Fire Department had theirs last weekend, but do any other fire companies have one coming up????
  14. A strong arm seems like a good idea for a industrial firefighting team because it will be a hell of a lot more expensive to replace an entire supply and facility then it is to replace a few parts and sections for a company and the strong arm would be good for parts of an appartment builidng that a fire fighter can not get to such as the 10 alarmer in the city a few days ago.
  15. What qualifies someone to be a flag person.. It seems like it is the guy that draws the short straw that day is the flag person. Who knows if these guys even know if how to manage a correct traffic pattern. Life-saving operations should come before the mail. It is too obvious.
  16. I have to agree, nothing beats the old red and white or black with some gold leaf and reflective tape. But if a graphic was done tastefully and had some inside joke or relevence, I could live with that. And ONLOCATION where did you get that picture of engine 109.
  17. No family on earth deserves this more then the Arena's do. Cant what to see the episode
  18. I was looking on the Ferrara Fire website when I came across this selection of videos. check out the Strong arm video and tell me what you think http://www.ferrarafire.com/company/videos/index.html thanks
  19. Here are just a few questions I have regarding used and de-commisioned apparatus: 1. How does one de-commision a rig? 2. What is done with that rig? 3. How does one get a hold of used firetrucks? 4. How much would one cost? 5. How often is rig de-commisioned? 6. Can a rig be re-commisioned? 7. Is there a masive field somewhere in Westchester or New York with just a huge collection of Apparatus from like the 60's or 70's or just un-needed or un-wanted rigs that one could see or visit? Thanks
  20. REST IN PEACE The firefighting community lost a true hero. My condolences to his friends, family and follow firefighters The Fireman's Prayer "When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage; Give me the strength to save some life, whatever be it's age. Help me embrace a little child before it is to late; Or save an older person from the horrors of that fate. Enable me to be alert, and hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me; To guard my every neighbor and protect his property. And if according to Your will I am to give my life, Please bless with Your protecting hand, My children and my wife." -Author Unknown
  21. The only problem is that the yankees rely on the fact that they only work as a total cohesieve unit when everyone is healthy. When a starter goes down they have a hard time finding a replacement. Unlike the METS who dont have a normal starters, thus the players are always different. its a coin toss who is going to play day to day. LETS GO METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. And that is why I will never eat another fruitcake. I refuse to eat something that will last longer then most home appliances.
  23. The Mets will have a good shot this year if everyone stays healthy and plays hard. They should also look to pick up some good talent before the trade deline in a few months. They have a shot at the divison if they just keep it up LETS GO METS!!!!!!!!!!
  24. head blocks, expand over and a collar will work fine
