  4. Very sad day 18 Children & 9 adults dead several injured in a Elementary school WFT??? Edit 16:50: Updated total is 20 Children & 6 Adults and the shooter (who apparently took his own life) at the school. 1 offsite at a separate location. Words and prayers could do little for the families and the responder's who are are suffering. I hope that the responder's accept the help that will be provided, we need you to get through this. I will pray for them.
  5. Please keep those responders from the dispatchers that took the call to the police officers, firefighters, EMS & medical examiners in your thoughts and prayers.
  6. Some discussions have been about putting a LEO in each school - who pays for it? In the end we do. I suggest get our soldiers out of other countries that do nothing but kill them dozens at a time and station one in each school. Better yet do more to care for and determine mentally ill people. JMO Now on a different note, I hope a fund is established to provide years of mental health counseling for everyone in the school. It's really scary to think of how things can turn out 10 - 15 years from now.
  7. Very interesting next it will be able to defibrillat you too.

  9. Modern technology has developed Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) that is widely used for dispatching emergencies. Iit is based on several modules that work together that help you set up your basic alarms and more. It is common knowledge for people that work on CAD's that most are under utilized. There are many things that can be programed too including building information to hydrant location to equipment availability. It takes people to contact their dispatch centers and ask what can be done and then to gather accurate information to be entered....and ....keep it regulary updated. Maybe some dispatchers or people that work with CAD's can discuss what type of things are available.
  10. I have driven apparatus with the "beeping or voice" devices and tend to find them annoying and they are not that accurate. I prefer when I don't have a spotter to have the camera so I can see whats there.
  11. Kimtek makes a nice unit for to carry a stokes / backboard except the O2 storage brackets, they are pretty flimsily.
  12. Must be more to it that they are not telling us.
  13. Sorry to go off topic but why wouldn't you want to be trained in at least CPR???? You may need it on a family member or friend.
  14. When defibrilation first became allowed for basics my ambulance service in Beacon had defoliators with 2 lead EKG screens. In fact as part of becoming an EMT-D you had to learn several rhythms. Then with technology & time they phased out those units to what we have available today "Dummy Box's" which anyone can use.
  15. I got the information from the Middletown Professional Firefighters Facebook page
  16. Here's a hint folks don't break the law and you won't risk being shot by the police *edit spelling
  17. Next we will see a HBO documentary on professional homeless people who take to the street begging for money by day and living normally by night. A way to live a tax free life.
  18. The person should be arrested for obstruction, vandalism and whatever else they can charge them with
