  1. Bump for this Fri. night....
  2. Just another reminder...if any dept. still needs flyers, please PM with email and dept. and i will email it to you
  3. It is a seperate entity from the FD...The VAC "technically" has no connection with the FD. The MVFA-VAC has the name because it became a VAC after the Mohegan Rescue Squad seperated from the FD in 1999 and now is it's seperate organization, though its quarters are with LMFD HQ and the membership overlaps to some degree, it has its own command staff, Bylaws/SOP's, Board of Directors, and so forth. The rigs do not fall under NFPA rules/regs due to it not being associated with the FD.
  4. The bls fly car (6905) is used as a utility for the VAC for duty crew members, who are available, and is also used by the officers when they are around so they can respond directly to the scenes to assist/set up ems command.
  5. Flyers have been out...if anybody needs one, please PM with your email address and dept.
  6. In 2008, the Lake Mohegan Fire District responded to a total of 2,730 runs, with 1,202 being fire/rescue related calls and 1,528 fd first response to ems calls. The Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association VAC in 2008 responded to a total of 2,560 EMS calls. Tho technically 2 seperate entities, so PIAA's are listed in both FD and VAC stat's here (approx. 300).
  7. Just a reminder for all to save the date....

  9. Bob was a life member of The Mohegan Vol. Fire Assoc., where he was still a very active firefighter at scenes and also socially inside the firehouse. He was also currently a very active riding member of the ambulance and was serving as a Board of Director of The MVFA-VAC. He was involved with many committees in the firehouse as well. His son Brian is a very active Firefighter with us and Bob's youngest son Mike was also a member for a short time. He will sorely be missed! Rest in Peace Bob...
  10. On behalf of the Mohegan FD/VAC, Thank you to everyone for the extreme support and compassion during this most difficult time!
  11. A very similiar incident occurred at the WalMart in the Cortlandt Town Center this morning (approx. 5:05am) when a shopper was trampled on by a large crowd at the front doors to the state of briefly losing conciousness. The shopper was transported by EMS to the hospital. In this case as well, first responders dealt with large crowds refusing to move out of the way and heavy parking lot traffic (vehicular and pedestrian).
  12. The Mohegan Volunteer Ambulance Corps in conjuction with the New York Blood Center will be hosting a blood drive at our Headquarters located at 1975 E. 13. With a brush fire of this magnitude, would it be feasible to use a helicopter with a bambi bucket to hit those areas considering we are going into the night time hours??
  14. Mohegan FD has switched all operations/apparatus responses from 46.26 to our district-wide frequency of 453.650. Individual members, not including officers, will continue to operate on the fire ground 1 frequency at alarms. The initial dispatch will be similcasted on 46.26 and LMFD district-wide and responding units will utilize the district-wide, similiar to how Peekskill FD is dispatched. Mohegan VAC continues to be dispatched and operate on 462.200

  20. Bump for Sunday...
  21. I was born and raised a Yankee fan...so many fond memories of being at Yankee Stadium as a kid plus all the other memories of my father and the family talking about the past Yankee generations. I remember waiting on lines just to get an autograph, not to mention always trying to buy Donny Baseball memoribilia. This past year i have had the opportunity to work at Yankee Stadium for a few games and the intensity of it has been so memorable. I had the privilege of working at the game on Sat. and though not inside, just being there on the street was a great feeling, as an era comes to an end. I have also had the privilege of being inside the new stadium and seeing the next generation being built. I have learned that there is a new beginning to every ending. I'm just happy that there is a new stadium to look forward to, unlike back way before my time in '57 when the Brooklyn Dodgers dynasty came to an end with the tearing down of Ebbets Field by owner Walter O'Malley, ending Brooklyn baseball memories. Just look at the players of the Dodgers like Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges, and Roy Campanella. Ironically for Yankee fans, Don Larson pitched the only World Series perfect game on 10/8/56 against the Brooklyn Dodgers (the "old" subway series).
  22. There is a quote that has been passed down..."What happens in Milford...Stays in Milford". Do you really want some of those pictures public??? haha. Although I do like the picture of someone staring at a truck stuck in the sand
