I was fortunate to get a personal tour of the complex and pick out my office. Haha! The place has great potential and the concept will work in time. Wish all those involved lots of luck and success. There will be a line out the door once the indoor range opens.

I agree. Drove by and witnessed it first hand. Millwood and somers ladders used to drape flag across rt 6. Turnouts and helmet positioned on chair in front of fhouse along with casket on back of engine. Police details driving around on gators. Been to several lodd unfortunately. Only thing missing was missing man formation and the amount of ffs in class A's. Not trying to disrespect but you have to draw the line. When u make the ultimate sacrifice you deserve the ultimate ceremony. Thoughts and prayers to all of the families and friends!

I remember back in the day, like 6 years ago, myself and friend would take our waverunners out of yonkers and loop around manhattan back to the YO. It got so bad we stopped doing that route and headed north to bear mountain instead. One day on our way down and back to NYC, we were pulled over by coast guard (boarded twice as they would say), NYPD, Jersey state, Yonkers, and lastly NYC corrections. Yes corrections! Harrasment you think? And no, we were not drinking, speeding or jumping wakes. Just cruising along. Had all the safety equipement, etc. and we were let go every time. It took all the fun out of it.

I was one of the members for YFD who tested numerous devices and fitment. Petlz xo, sterling F1, and cmc escape artist all work just fine. Oh and the Deus. Just personal preferance. Make sure you choose a high heat and high abrasive rope like the sterling f-32 along with of course, a hook like crosby. The crosby hook seemed to stay in place better then the nars hook. Cmc has a new hook that was not available when we did the testing. We chose to store our pes in a right leg pocket. We feel it is easier to access and deploy. Lumbar storage seemed to be cumbersome with the airpack and turnout coat and more difficult to reach. Just personal preferance. Keep in mind you will notice the added weight on the leg if you are not accustomed to having leg pockets filled with rope or tools which our members are. Maybe R1 smokeeater will post some pics.

By the way, we work 10 hr. days and 14 hr. nights. 9 days is 90 hrs. This is just another attempt for the mayor to justify the cuts that he has made and wants to make in the future. Let me guess, the mayor is going to complain in january that the FD went over our overtime budget. He has created this problem by demoting and laying off FF's. Now he is paying time and a half to fill the vacancies he created. Not too smart is he?

Suffolk county PD is accepting applications for upcoming test. 100.00 fee though! The more tests you take the better off you will be. Practice makes perfect. I used to travel all over to take test state to state. Might take you years to get on. Time will pass and then hopefully all of a sudden you will be have numerous depts calling you at once and then the ball will be in your court.

What a ridiculous motto. Makes no sense according to the definition. I think Ive seen this also on Yorktown's chief car once.
