  1. I second that! Love the shots of L61 & L51 operating under the 'L'. That's some good work on the turntable!
  2. I'm in for a "paid" membership. I also agree that some financial accountability is a good idea. Not because of any suspicion of malfeasance but because it is a good idea and the right thing to do. Thinking ahead, what if some accusations were made? Transparency right from the start would head off any suspicions and would easily settle any questions. Another thought; I have no idea what it takes to operate, support, maintain a website like this and it would be enlightening to learn at least the expenses involved. I think this information would make me and others take this great website less for granted and more willing to kick in the $$ it takes to keep it alive and well. Tom
  3. Seth, You've done a great job on this site and I hate to see it go as so many of the members do. I have not been a big-time user or poster do to my time constraints but I do value this site and your efforts. While most of us can't help you with your employment and health issues, I believe a lot of us can help you with finances for this site. I've made a donation and hope that many more will come through for you. Actually it's for all of us. All we can do now is offer you encouragement to continue. We will respect your decision however you decide. My personal best wishes for good health and congratulations on the baby! This is it boys! It's a Brotherhood. Lets prove it right now. We all benefit by maintaining the website! Tom
  4. WOW! Lightning Trigger = $329.00 ! I'm interested but it's a big price tag for such a limited use device. Do you have one of these, Mike? If so, what do you think of it? Thanks, Tom
  5. What I find really strange, nevermind the color, is the miracle of how the truck can transform from single axle to a twin axle between the two photos!!
  6. Wrong color!! Not ripe yet? But seriously folks; THE BEST IDEA YET---The PUMP PANEL BEHIND TAMBOR DOORS!! Great! It's murder scraping dirt and road salt of the controls and gauges. Nice going, guys. Best of luck with it. PS: Stay off the little bridge off Rte 301 to Sedgewood Club.
  7. An additional consideration about using a helicopter was the proximity of homes in the area. I was told that there was concern about approach and dump so close to any houses.
  8. Personal preference is always your number one consideration. Equipment is another factor: The RAW files are so much bigger than the JPEG files. If you have memory capacity, shoot RAW. If not, settle for the compressed photos-JPEG. Also, with JPEG, the photo is ready to use, post, email, etc. With RAW you're gonna need to do some processing in your computer. You can do an enormous amount of creative work with a photo processing program (Adobe Photoshop a good example) such as color correcting, cropping, enhancements, overlaying with other photos, all kinds of special effects, etc. Remember, with JPEG, your picture information is compressed right there in your camera and lots of information (ie pixels) are lost and can never be retrieved. The compression process will produce an acceptable photo but some quality factors are lost. RAW gives you everything that the camera caught using all of it's design capabilities and limitations. You can make the decision on what to do with all that infomation when you process it in you computer. Some camera allow you to shoot RAW and compressed at the same time and save both photos at the same time. The best of both worlds! --memory permitting.
  9. Nice picture. I wonder what kind of camera was used to take it.
  10. Something else to consider: If you don't already know the cause and origin of the fire you are fighting, it may prove to be electric in origin. One cause of an electrical fire can be an energized neutral. Since pulling the meter has no effect on the neutral lead (it runs straight through the meter pan- uninterrupted) the building can still be energized even after the meter is pulled. Wait for the power company to do their thing!! We all want go home after its over!
  11. Here's an idea. How 'bout we submit a photo of our helmet along with a "parts list".
