  1. They are probably staging their feet so the list lasts longer. Took me. 6 1/2 months to get my score and that was with them hiring 200 officers every 2 weeks. Now its 80 a month if that. Good luck
  2. so Dutchess is broke but lets hire a new administrative position??????? Is the Dept. of Emergency response one of the agencies that is getting merged in the county? like the office for the aging merging with youth services that was a great idea they start in diapers and end in diapers must have been Steinhaus' idea there
  3. How I spent this afternoon:
  4. From TImes Herrold Record: "TOWN OF ULSTER — One correction officer died and a fellow officer and a prisoner were hurt in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon." Times Herrold Record Article
  5. Arlington (Dutchess) Total Fire and EMS 5174
  6. The law also states the driver of any emergency vehicle will drive "WITH DUE REGARD". Any lawyer will argue that an emergency vehicle going past a red light or other negative traffic control device and involved in an accident even if not the operators fault was not operated with due regard since we should all expect the other drivers to be idiots and not paying any attention. All that really matters in this accident is that every one walked away.
  7. after having the "JOY" of racking 5" on 3215 let me say it SUCKS. Its great that its low but its like being in a canyon and is difficult to work in.
  8. I wonder if they have decided to change the number for the new rescue. It was already numbered 3252 a week ago on the in production pics that were taken when striping was still being done on the roll up doors.
  9. feel better
  10. this is what happens when you outlaw law abiding citizens from carrying a handgun. lots of criminals are still going to carry them and will not be afraid to use them since there victims will usually be unarmed.
  11. Lets also not forget that the DCSO is LAYING OFF 6 Deputies and 6 Corrections officers per the POJO news. Maybe if DC911 was willing to look at different options they could find the necessary cash to keep the FID even if its not at 50K a year. They could have a yard sale and sell off some chairs that have been in the paper lately
  12. better question is how well equipped and manned to handle the rise in call volume especially daytime mid week?
  13. what do you expect when agencies have tshirts that say "when in doubt fly em out" Its not our money, really its all our money eventually since you end up paying higher fees since only 1/2 pay then they charge twice as much.
  14. Who exactly enforces this. The hell with it leave them up until some one calls the POLICE . I'm sure this is going to be appealed but how long do they have till the are supposed to remove the crosses.
  15. they are also noticeably dimmer then other LED's. One member of my Dept. have them and I was thinking about ordering some until I saw his light on and could barely see it during the day.
  16. How exactly do you lay off a volunteer FID team? Even if the cash for them is taken out of the budget how long can the team continue to operate with the equipment that is currently in place? One question that I have often wondered is why the individual Districts do not contribute to a FID/Critical Incident team fund to help cover the costs. How much would it really impact each FD in Dutchess to pay out $1K - $2K a year for these services when one court case will probably cost them 100x's that much.
  17. NHFD in Dutchess county is New Hamburg Fire, just north of NKFD and they M/A to each other.
  18. its in the works as a few other items that still need to be placed on the new 15.
  19. the new 32-15 went in service this afternoon. I will get some photos tomorrow after it gets a bath. Still has a couple things that will be added once the new Rescue is delivered.
  20. Arlington is getting the new rescue and one more engine. Last Saturday was the factory training for the first engine and it will hopefully be in service by the end of the month as 32-15. The Tower is in and being outfitted. I have heard rumors that 32-52 number may be retired and it may end up being 32-55? When I hear more I will let every one know. Arlington is getting rid of 3 engines the old tower and rescue but probably not till after the first of the year since they want to get every thing in service and assigned to locations so they can determine what is in need of being replaced.
  21. Arlington in Dutchess uses these assist valves and OGs state that they should be used on commercial structures and long lays.
  22. Wow I know its been cold but how much hot chocolate mix did it take to fill your tanker and how did you heat it? Great shots. Looks like it was a good training experience.
  23. Arlington FD in Dutchess has a used rescue from FDNY and it is the biggest POS I have ever seen and ridden in. Remember FDNY runs their rigs till they are Dead and then some in some of the worst conditions. You would probably be better off getting a used rig from a dept that doesn't put their rigs to the demands of FDNY. And to your post what is wrong with the idea of keeping Fire Apparatus out of private hands. UPS does not sell any trucks that are used. They are all scraped and recycled due to the ease of passing security checkpoints with their vehicles.
  24. I personally like it better with out the "tower ladder" If you can't figure that out on your own there are bigger problems. It's for vent enter search training remember to test the floor
