  1. So when you gonna prove ur skills son? Keep talking crap, but will you show up and show us how it's done?
  2. actually in regards to the Empress program, those of us that were qualified to do such maneuvers such as clearance are still able to do so per Dr. Derobertis. He infact wants those learned of such practice to conduct this on a regular basis. The sheets were for a study and now I use them as an addendum to my ACR when utilizing such techniques.
  3. Thank God that Mason is alright, huh Swankie.
  4. Get him to sign the RMA and document that you are unable to fully immobilize the patient secondary to the situation. That way the patient confirms your documentation with a signature...be sure to advise him of all appropriate actions you are supposed to take!!! Later on in a lawsuit you will have back-up and not have to hit your 10-13 button!!!! RMA = refusing spinal immobilization (treatment) not just refusing assistance...way to CYA!!!
  5. Speaking from personal experience (i.e. rolled my car last Feb.) damage does not constitute injuries. My car was totaled, it was such a mess that my paramedic friend whom came over to help told me to clean it up. Roof buckled at sunroof, engine compartment destroyed, side impact moderate. Vehicle rolled onto roof at approx. 45 MPH (I know, that sucks!!!!!). No airbags, was wearing my belt. No injuries!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I walked away literally until my brother-in-law could pick my up. The car looked as though it may require extrication, however my door opened and I simply got out after I fell out of the seat (remember, when upside down, don't undo the seatbelt until you are ready to roll over, otherwise you fall, kind of hard). I didn't even have any physical ailments within the next few days nor weeks, just mental anguish. It was a beautiful car! Damage does not mean anything these days with all the safety features that vehicles require and some of the add-ons that are configured by different companies such as Honda, Volvo, and Subaru. Don't be subjective, be objective!!! Find out what hurts before you make a small thing a big thing! Some a!! cut me off on the Taconic and just kept going while I went sledding into the woods!!!! If you know who it was give me their name and address, I have some words for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
  6. EMS apparatus? I prefer a van, guess I just got used to them. However, Braun makes one serious "bus" it is just too bad that Vickery sells them.
  7. Doesn't White Plains have a No Fly Zone as well? What would happen there?
  8. Listen, Yonkers is about to use eminant domain to shut down part of Getty Square in order to build a minor league baseball stadium, right. So, if Millwood needs to do such a thing to provide a fire station than go right ahead...if there building collapses before than well I hope they get their trucks out.
  9. tbendick has a good point, if you are not getting paid to dispatch, don't dispatch...the dispatchers are trained to do just that, no one else should be sending out alarms from a firehouse, that is absurd...if you want to dispatch, take the test, and go for the job, until then just pay attention to the radio.
  10. I see a decline in working structure fires, sorry boys.
  11. free beer starts fights, not unity.
  12. 289 nepperhan, 220 yonkers ave, and 1 glenwood are all tall. i would not want to carry anyone down.
  13. Peekskill has plans to re-do their building, very modern design...
  14. Remember when that cool Empress dispatcher was utilizing DTMF tones for each of the units on, on Sunday nights...too bad he is no longer there. Tones help somewhat, however in a system where you are "at work" and have to listen to the radio (i.e. Empress, YFD) than there are no reason for individual company tones, other than it sounds cool. See, the tones are important for volunteer agencies, where everyone is on call all of the time and should not have to listen all of the time, there fore a pager is optimal. However professional units should use tones as a means of waking up personnel whom missed the first call to them or on jobs signifying priority (i.e. YPD). Re-dispatch is useless...if you didn't hear it the first time, you lose...kidding!!! Re-dispatch is important, sometimes you only hear what you want the first time (i.e. structure fire), and miss the important thing like, the person who started the fire has a gun and will shoot any firefighter that comes near the structure...it increases safety, of course my example it a little over the top, but it makes a point...All too many times, persons who don't live the job get very excited and miss things, not to say that pros don't miss things either (i.e. Reben) such as EDP waving a knife ifo the address, await ESU... Updates are also good and should be held for re-dispatch when we know that someone is either enroute in their car or apparatus.
  15. Well, it went on long enough...I made up that policy...not true, just thought it was funny so don't think that Westchester County is not working hard on scanning your exams...
  16. I think he ment f*** the Al Qaeda...the Taliban is a political party in Afganistan, not a terrorist organization...shows you what preparation does...
  17. If you are going to go with a county-wide dispatch system, why not just make it a county-wide fire system as well and then everyone would have to get along, right?
  18. I also believe that chicken little was there...someone heard "The sky is falling."
  19. What a loser...he held up traffic on central for a bit...
  20. Well, I am gonna go find a new site...nah just kidding Seth, take your time and don't forget to put my picture up!!!!!
  21. A ladder is a ladder is a ladder...I could care less if it is a straight, tower, quint, snorkel, or whatever...just call it truck then and get rid of the 2 designations...and what is so big about being ladder 1...it doesn't mean there any good and it doesn't mean that they were the first...I would rather be truck 69!!!!!
  22. I believe the pcr is on the wall in the office, in fact I believe that I have seen it...all the way in the back between the windows.
  23. I am working from 7 am new year's eve til 8 am new year's, the only precaution I am taking is a warm hat and gloves...Whatever happens, happens, and when it does we will handle it...all the preparation in the world does not override fright, confusion, and least of all awe.

  25. Ten codes are good, but they should be uniform. And 801, radio communication is not a HIPPA violation. Read carefully, we attempt to not give any personal information across the airwaves.
