FYI I had info that I spread through work that was available 3 days ago that was just published on the BS watchline. But this info I read online, not from any of my DHS or USSS or FBI friends.
I should hope you're not getting classified info from your DHS or USSS or FBI friends. You claim to have a lot of inside info about the goings on in counter terrorism and homeland security but without a clearance there's gonna be a lot you don't hear about. So instead of bashing these guys for doing their jobs and the right thing, why don't you just lighten up.

So long as FD's act as their own little empires very little will change. My buddy quit one FD because of the internal politics and resistance to do anything that wasn't thought of by his chief. I bet they're one of the many you say doesn't pay attention to OSHA.

“What started out as a community coming together and truly caring for their neighbors, protecting their town and the people in it, seems to have changed along with the meaning of a volunteer. Volunteering means to provide a selfless act or service with no monetary benefits,” the board’s letter states. This says it all.

Somers doesn't cover the interstate. I remember reading something saying the paid crew does not go out of district it is soley for those within the district.
None of 684 runs through Somers or the Somers FD doesn't respond to it?

Certainly does sound like someone not using their brain at all. I was under the impression that Phelps had a hyperbaric chamber but maybe I was wrong? If anybody could let me know the answer to this I would greatly appreciate it, I haven't been to Phelps' ER before but I was told by a friend of mine that they did in fact have a hyperbaric chamber on site. Speedy recovery to all those involved and I hope no MOS were involved.
I thought the same thing and asked a buddy who works at Phelps. They do have a hyperbaric chamber but it isn't staffed 24x7 and the transfer to Jacobi was faster than calling the techs in from home on a Sunday night. Probably less expensive too.

1728hrs-XXFD Car-2 on the scene, advising one person on the ground.1729hrs-Car-2 requesting Medevac on stand-by.
1730hrs-Car-1 on the scene, assuming command.
1731hrs-EXXX responding. XXXX 911 advising that LifeNet is standing-by with an (8) minute ETA.
1734hrs-EXXX on location.
1735hrs-XXX Command requesting a launch of the medevac, Car-1 will be the ground contact on 46.XXX. XXXX 911 advising (8) minute ETA for the Medevac from stand-by.
1736hrs-Command requesting an ETA on the Medevac for EMS, he's having trouble reaching them.
1750hrs-Medevac with a 0-2 minute ETA.
1754hrs-Medevac is on the ground.
Here's another problem with the medevacs in our area. Put on stand-by at 1729. Give an EIGHT minute ETA at 1731. Requested at 1735. On-Scene at 1754. I'm no genius but that seems like 19 minutes to me. Then they give a TWO minute ETA but don't show up for FOUR. What BS.
So because of a BS ETA from the medevac operator the ground crew had to sit around for almost 20 minutes waiting when they could have been on the road.

Well said. Why are police agencies always trying to encroach on the duties of the fire and EMS guys? Self preservation? If there is a serious concern about saving money, which there is, combine with other law enforcement entities such as Corrections, DA, Probation. They all deal with "bad guys". Kinda like one stop shopping. Could prove to be a model for other Counties to duplicate. Oh, I forgot, sandbox issues...
Probatoin and Correctoins were both put under one Commissoiner years ago under the Spano regime. The DA's Office is run by the DA and not under the control of Astorino.
Considering that DES was established only 10 years ago and can be put under the "Public Safety" umbrella without any harm to any fire, EMS or police departments in the County what is the harm in this proposal?
Sounds like the haz-mat team will have more strength because of more people and a quicker response time so I don't know what everyone's all fired up about.
-
Chief, if you don't mind I'd like to ask what's your opinion regarding DPS expanding into WCHMRT response?
Hasn't the bomb squad been going to haz-mat calls and suspicous incidnets with the HMRT and the Health Department for years?
Takeover or merger? Who cares? The county can do whatever it wants with or without our approval.
Most of the proposal is for the administratoin. So what? Let them get rid of the big $$ people at the top. Keep DC Cullen as the County Fire Coordinator and we're no worse off then we have been under the Sutton administration.

Good for Mohegan. As busy as they are I'm surprised it took this long.
It's much easier to contract with a company than to hire your own staff. Probaly costs a lot less too.

I wouldn't post the answer to this question on here. God only knows who is looking and what kind of angle someone might be going for.
This is ridiculous. It is a legit question and if the guy was dead the guy was dead and CPR wasn't going to bring him back. There are protocols for the field termination of resuscitation and that gets talked about all the time. So what?
-
If CPR was started by bystanders or even first responders and was contraindicated it would be appropriate to terminate. If brain matter is all over the street, there's no point in doing CPR because it won't help. Other signs of obvious death could also have been present. There is a protocol for field termination of cardiac arrest so they probably went by that.
The decison should have been made by the highest medical provider on the scene after assessing the patient.

Different pots of money. The big projects like construction come from bonds and you're not allowed to bond for salaries.
