  7. Stepping on units is never a good thing , once units have arrived on scene we go to our fireground channels (2 or 3 ) and the Chiefs Aid remains on 1( primary dispatch). This enables incoming units to communicate w/ the fireground via the Chiefs Aid while the IC communicates and monitors units on scene channel 2 or 3(interior). It works well when units follow SOPs and gives priority to on scene units directly to the IC w./o interference. .
  8. With the cold weather here what do you and your Department do that changes your method of operations ? Ie (H20 cans moved to interior compartments, draining main drain on pumps, lines open (cracked ) to eliminate freezing etc...) What tips do you have for keeping warm while operating (*leaving 1 corner of a room burning is not an option!)
  9. Look out HUNTERS its opening for Gun season Saturday, if u want to get stopped while heading North just put your silly BLAZE Orange gear by the window!
  10. Im certain that u as an OFFICER corrected that Firefighter with hours of training, or at the very least spoke with him about his/her performance or lack of
  11. If u have to physically assist a civilian or another FF because they are physically or mentally incapable of removing themselves from any IDLH I would consider it a rescue.
  12. Again guys u have to take each Department and its resources into account. If its a career dept then there should be an interior Chief only when the other positions (Saferty,Communications etc ..) have been fulfilled, and even then let the interior officers do there job. As for Volly Dept. there is an obligation to all Firefighters regardless if they are on scene or responding in that a Qualified IC be in place at all times and that everyone is clear on how and when it is implimented. Dont set yourself up to fail before u get out the door! So the what ifs that Rescue 6 mentioned should always be dicussed ,it will make u and your Dept better for it! In the real world.
  13. What about 2in 2 out ? Do you follow it, and what about your guys that arent inerior qualified? Are they used as ICs w/ they arent qualified for interior work? Just a ?????
  14. Thermal Image Cameras Dont see through walls . They only give u an image of the heat differential.
