  2. No what I am saying is when it comes to demotions it should be time in rank people sacrifice time away from their children and families to study for the test it is hard enough to get a promotion when the 4/5 rule is in place that throws away 37 questions on a test. No one said anything about layoffs

  3. does rank in seniority count over time on the job seniority? For Example if a Captain has 4 yrs as a Capt. and there is another Capt. who just got promoted but has more time on the job overall then the Capt. who has 4 yrs who gets demoted?

MODERATION NOTE: this discussion was split from another topic which had finished it's usefulness.

  4. TL-1 has not ran correctly since day 1. I do not recall it even making it through 1 whole month without some sort of mechanical breakdown. Is there not a lemon law when it comes to fire apparatus? Seagrave should replace this truck I do not understand how they could get away with selling a 750,000 truck and it have so many problems. The City spent good money thinking they bought the best perhaps they should of done more research before they made the deal. We are all disappointed, all show no go on this one. I hope seagrave reads this because they really built a piece of garbage and should be ashamed

  5. Even when mutual aid shows up to Mount Vernon all they do is overhaul unless the fire has spread to multiple structures or a big apt. building or factory then they will go to work. For all of you armchair quarterbacks all you are doing is disrespecting the brothers in Mount Vernon. No doubt the City treats us like s*** but we have and are some of the best firefighters in the state. We are not the only ones that are understaffed, have bad rigs and the other problems that go along with it including mutual aid. Corrupt politicians and bad leadership is what creates these problems all of this BS on here isn't doing anything but disrespecting the firefighters of Mount Vernon both black and white who take pride in what they do..

  6. What liability will it be on a line officer if he rides out with the engine company at this time?

he can be trained inhouse so long as the training meets all the objectives of the 229 hours that the state says is the minimum standard. You are required to send your training agenda to the state prior to training for approval. Example The instructors teaching a class have to be certified by OFPC to teach that class in order for the student to get credit for it. The other part that has to be done is CPAT. That cant be done inhouse, so he will have to get in on someones test (I dont think the career academy will let him back for that day) and I believe it is a max time of 18 months from time of appointment to pass the test, but that is up to each dept.
